Nitric acid or Phosphoric acid?

Hi, hope this is in the right forum. Can anyone tell me why different acids are used to decrease the PH, one for growing and one for flowering? Thanks.

they are both strong acids.. so when they drop off their hydrogens and lower the pH, there is phosphate running around and thats good in the flower stage.. with vegging, the nitric is used because after the H pops off, there are nitrates swimming around.. nitrogen is in nitrates and phosphorus is in phosphates..

No foolin?

Course, I do so little vegging the nitric makes little sense but, good to know.

For my :2cents:, I use Phosphoric Acid throughout. I don't think pH down adds enough EC for the acid one uses to make a difference. Then again, I've always used Phosphoric, and I've never tried Nitric.

Does anybody swear by Nitric (or any other [not organic] acid) for pH down? I'd be interested in how you think it compares to Phosphoric Acid, or if you think it doesn't really matter which one is used.
