Nightmares

I haven't had a nightmare (that I could remember at least) since I was a little kid until last night.

I've heard that eating cheese before you go to sleep can cause this but I was never really sure.

So last night at about 3am I ate a triple cheese pizza and then went to bed about an hour or so later and I ended up having the most fucked up freaky nightmare I've had in years. It really was terrifying...and the subject matter was quite disturbing to say the least. I really have no clue where the hell that came from :fsu:

So do you think there is any link to nightmares and cheese? :chin:

I highly doubt it. If that was the case, Nacho Night in this house would produce nightmares week after week. We also nibble on cheese (pepper jack) daily, except for my hubby, who's allergic to lactose, can't have dairy, and can only have yellow plastic (fake cheese)

I've never heard that, but anything is possible???

I have vivid nightmares and wacked out dreams every night ...and I've always loved it ...been that way since I was a Kid.

I always love my dreams whenver I can remember them.

But nightmares are one thing I've always detested since I was a child.

This one felt so real and when I finally woke up I had to do a sort of reality check to make sure all that stuff hadn't really happened and that I was ok. Even after a few minutes of being awake I was still a little shaken up...

The nightmare wasn't so much about something bad happening to me but more about me doing something terrible.

That is really strange that you would say that jasondub...

Last night I distinctly remember falling asleep on my back. I always sleep on my side with one hand under the pillow in the recovery position and I have since I can remember.

That may have had something to do with it...although I don't see how that could really influence having a nightmare. Maybe it was because I wasn't comfortable in my normal position?

I do know that exterior stimuli can effect your dreams. Like say you hear a strange noise while sleeping it will correspond to something in your dream.

i was thinking about the cheese-nightmare idea the other day :chin:
but i regularly eat cheese before going to bed, and it doesn't affect my dreams negatively.

5htp on the other hand.. :joint:
makes things quite vivid, and odd.
but not bad necessarily

Well.........

You're probably going to think I'm totally fucked in the head.

From what I can remember I was with my best mate and some of my family were around also. But we were in a place I've never been before.

My and my friend were staying in a seperate hotel/bedsit type place and somehow either just me or me and him ended up killing and badly dismembering a baby and another young child and we hid the bloody body parts somewhere in the room. I don't remember what caused me to do this...

We were then outside somewhere away from the hotel place and I realised that the maid or somebody would find the bodies and then send the police after us to put us away. The rest of the dream consisted of me and my friend running round this town/city place and hiding so they wouldn't find us.

I remember I had that weird running thing where you are running as fast as you can but your feet sort of keep slipping about and you don't really get anywhere....it's very frustrating. Then my friend kept showing me how to run properly he showed me that you had to focus on your feet take sort of individual leaps instead of runnning frantically....I sort of got it but it was very hard to concentrate on to do.

I think I saw my family a few times but I don't remember what happened with them. It was like we were on holiday together or something. Strange.

Anyway it carried on like that until I finally woke up shitting myself wondering if I'd actually done all that crazy shit. I had to give myself a reality check a couple of times to convince myself it was all just a dream.

Ive had fucked up dreams, im sure we all have. sounds to me like you have something weighing heavy on your conscience whether you realize it or not. any idea what that might be? does your friend that was in the dream share your hobby for trees? could be related to some kind of paranoia, as your mind is conditioned to think you're in serious shit if you get caught.. or maybe your girl had an abortion? dont want to get into your private life, just throwing out ideas based on what you wrote..

dude omfg I have had bad dreams with that running thing too! I have never met anyone else whos experienced that. that shit is crazy and those are always bad dreams. maybe you feel like you're not going anywhere with your life (subconsciously?). things not going well in school, work, with your lady? thats wild though man I KNOW the frusteration!! but in my dreams my friends never addressed my running slow, at least your buddy tried to help you, heh. and you sort of got it, you say, i never did, was like being in quicksand.

similarly, I have had dreams twice (years ago) where some of my friends were getting up to go.. and I was still eating.. and I wanted to say wait, im comin with you, etc.. but I couldnt cause my mouth was like stuffed to the brim with food.. and no matter how much i chewed it just stayed full.. untill they got in a car and drove away  very old dream, and no I'm not fat :biglaugh:

I love dreams man, theyre fuckin crazy :D havent had one that i remembered in years

lorax,
My friend does actually grow also but he's unable to at the moment due to difficulties at home.
I have actually been planning to move out soon and get a big grow on. This has been in my thoughts alot lately. I suppose this could be to do with it.
I don't have a girlfriend so it's nothing to do with that.
Maybe the children were a metaphor for something? Could be that I personified my families expectations of me into them and me killing and cutting them up means I have destroyed their view of me as an innocent child by getting busted growing?

I don't work or go to school. I don't really worry too much about not going anywhere in my life though, I'm pretty confident that I will be able to sort myself out ok for the future.

I think the running thing is quite common in peoples bad dreams. I used to get it when I was little quite a bit. I think it's supposed to signify a powerlessness in your life...I'm not sure about the thing with your mouth being stuffed full of food though that is a strange one.

Artie,
That's strange that you can remember your dreams every night. Do you smoke weed in the evenings or before you go to sleep? Whenever I toke before sleeping I have a hard time remembering anything from my dreams.

I know what you mean dude I fucking love my dreams usually. They always seem to be about what I want most in my life...in most of them I am able to fly and usually I end up having sex with one or more women.
A lot of my dreams seem to be centered around being back at school (not actually IN school but about the people I knew back then who were my friends or who were in my school) and I'm always the center of attention and I end up getting huge confidence which is something I was lacking back then and still am to some degree.

I suppose that's why they call them dreams :D

The running thing is very interesting, because in half of the nightmares I'm like that. For example things that have happened are, somebody throws a granade but I an't budge. Or some crazy thing cımes after me and I cant get away. Then I get the dreams where I have to fight but its like I'm inside water and I move ever so slow and they beat me up. Then, in the other half of my nightmares, I'm superhuman. I just rip everybody into pieces or outrun things and destroy them and get pleasure from this. In the third half of my dreams, there is an impenetratable darkness around me and I try to do things but I can't because its too dark and dense. I just love the nightmares, have any of you read Dorian Gray's Portrait? There is a great passage about sleeping rather than living your life. I sometimes feel depressed when I wake up because the dream has been just too good and the day isn't going to be. I guess I'd also like shrooms.

Everyone should try shrooms at least once.

I can't imagine what my life would be like had I not found the sacred mushroom.

it's the precursor to the serotonin, you can buy it in capsules at holland and barrett.
quite popular with people who use ecstasy as it supposedly lessens the effects of seretonin depletion after their roll.

it's also supposedly helpful as a healthier alternative medication for anxiety/depression and sometimes sleep disorders.
i'm not prepared to go on any SSRI's, i was on prozac for a while, but felt zombified - so i'm looking at other methods like this one. taking 50mg 3 times a week or so.

but yeah, 'nightmares' is under the list of possible side-effects.
i haven't had any nightmares that i remember, but it does intensify dreams, i quite like it.

hmmm sounds interesting. I might have to buy some.

The extasy thing is a bonus aswell...that's one thing I hate. The day after is just too shitty.

What brand do you get? Or is it just called 5htp?
