Yes. There is a lot of disinformation out there to turn you into a good consumer spending a good amount of money on things that dont work or you dont need.
Unfortunately it's going to be rough for new people. There are vested interests wanting to screw up your grow just to sell you products to fix it, and worse.
(I'm talking as if you are growing indoors)
Lets get rid of the first myth. The recent invention of cannabis botany is a scam. There is only botany. We don't study the recent invention and its belief system.
Instead we study science, long standing horticultural techniques to grow it the right way.
First, cannabis is a short-day plant (long-night). In horticulture the correct way to grow short-day plants is: seedling 14 to 18 hours light. Vegetative stage: 12 hours lights on, 5.5 darkness, 1 hour light, 5.5 hours of darkness. This is known as 12-1 and keeps the plant in vegetative growth. Flowering: remove the one hour light in dark period. 12 hours lights on, 12 hours lights off. Now, each week shave off a little time. 30 minutes. So week 2 is - 11.5 lights on, 12.5 lights off. Keep doing this. If growing narrow leaf cannabis you want to get down to 8 hours lights on for that last week. Indica you want to go to 6 hours light that last week. This is what makes cannabis and all long-night plants happy. You get compact lush plants that ooze resin because they are happy.
The dirty trick is... they tell ya to grow it like it's a long-day plant. The exact opposite of what its evolution has made it for!
If you follow the cannabis scam, your plants are not going to be happy, but stressed, because they are telling you to treat it like a long-day plant. So when you switch to flower, it's going to stretch like crazy. You dont want to be growing a bunch of stem on stressed plants. So dont fall for that bullshit. Just use the horticultural science for short-day plants. 12-1 and 8-16.
Just watch for the retarded statement: "Cannabis loves light!" - False.
It actually loves darkness. And you know why. Because it's a short day, long night plant. It's obvious. In india cannabis has been associated with Shiva, for thousands of years, and Shiva is the darkness, emptiness. Cannabis, yeah it needs light, but prefers darkness. Just like you must work to get food, you would also need a rest to stay in optimal health. Generally it's not going to get more than 8 or 9 hours of *intense light in nature anyway above compensation point. If it's not cloudy.
Some plants go into photoprotection shut down near high noon near the equator. They actually stop for an hour or two then resume. On some strains you can visibly see them droop at hour 12 or 14, not all strains do it consistently but it can be an indication of photoprotection if they are under the wrong light schedule. During photoprotection it does not need the light, the plant isnt doing anything. Transpiration has stopped. Its passed out asleep with full tanks. Full tanks = photoprotection. Blasting it with more light is just waste of electricity and it makes the soil dry out faster and you are watering/feeding more. Makes the room hotter. Bugs like this situation.
Give this lighting schedule a try. It costs nothing to try it, and if nothing else you saved some money. Prove it to yourself, so you know from your experience. I've seen people go from the wrong lighting schedule, to the right lighting schedule and their tests showed an increase in total cannabinoid and thc. Went from 15% thc to over 20 on the same strain they have been growing for years, a farm favorite got better!
Next scam, seeds, genetics. There has been 30+ years of bad breeding practices that have left the state of cannabis genetics in a crisis.
For good marijuana, or medical marijuana you are going to need good genetics of regular seeds, not feminized or autoflowering
Autoflowering is a cannabis drug plant that has been crossed with a type of edible hemp called ruderalis. This is why their drug content is weaker and the effects last only about 20 minutes. These hemp hybrids are junk.
Feminized seeds are made by stressing the female, using chemicals to induce hermaphroditism, where it produces male sex organs, male flowers which have the pollen to make feminized seeds becaus there is no y chromosome. In nature, biology, the organism does what made the organism successful and in this case it is the hermaphroditic plant that was successful, so that trait is passed on.
Feminized seeds carry that now amplified hermaphroditic trait and it can pop up at anytime. Here is a feminized plant going hermie at week 6.5 see the yellow bananas? Now you know why they tell you to harvest these "fast finishers" so quickly.
Feminized/Hermaphrodites can ruin your entire grow. You can't trust those seeds.
On top of that, these artificial creations have weaker pest, mildew, and plant pathogen resistance. They also do not produce sinsemilla (true medical weed.) If you let them flower longer they will turn hermaphroditic or go into bud rot, or both. It never makes sinsemilla. They also require more watering, more nutrients. So they do actually cost more to grow. Imagine that, paying more to grow mediocre weed.
Their plan was for you not to be able to produce your own seeds, but be dependent on the seed company. Recurring payments. Unfortunately there is a lot of junk out there, and a lot of people who are ready to exploit you.
Sterile GMO seeds will soon be hyped, you can choose with or without imitation seed shell. (Increased yields 20-30% Inspiring energetic sativa high balanced by a deep relaxation and couch-lock indica stone.)
No more fishing for your fish.
Additionally, you cant trust a single thing these seedbanks say. I recently read a description of "Mazar-I-Sharif" on one of these sites. Their description is that it's a three way hybrid, skunk and 2 others I cant remeber.
Mazar-I-Sharif... a skunk polyhybrid? ? ...
....This is intentional misrepresentation and marketing fraud. Mazar is a landrace IBL that goes back centuries. I trust 3 people for my seeds. People, not companies.
Their business model banks on you being ignorant or stupid. It's working.
So maybe a few seed suppliers are not that way, but the problems along with it is so widespread and product so misrepresented that its wiser to bypass all of that altogether. Why take the risk when you dont have to.
A real eye opener was a study in 6 US states where 90,000 samples were tested, and it turns out the chemical composition of all the samples fell into 3 distinct categories. The surprising and unexpected result vindicated many of us that noticed the steady drop in cannabis diversity. So what does it mean? It means you be getting weed#1, weed#2, or weed#3... no matter what strain name it is. Indica, hybrid, or sativa system didnt mean anything either. Here is the study if you want to read it. Kinda sad really. They managed to blend so many polyhybrids together it's almost one weed for everyone. Imagine buying some seeds with one name from a seed co, your buddy buys seeds of a differently named strain from a different seed co, and a few months later both are smoking the same weed, with the same chemical make-up. They both got "#2" weed. Now scale that up to 6 US states worth of people. Same chemical composition, same effect. No matter the medical condition. Its gotten bad. Rotten. Ugly.
Someone should breed these 3 together and just have the perfect generic weed. You get it wrapped in toilet paper. Oh you want a bag? Bring it yourself.
With 30+ years of bad breeding practices (which they will defend as the highest good) and white label seeds, pollen chuckers.... you see why it's no longer a viable option to source seeds this way. I recently had to define what a F1 hybrid was to a seed seller. He claimed any two plants you cross is an F1. So I screenshot the first 3 or 4 results from a google search, which had the right definition. How long has the product been misrepresented? How many people got something 'other' than they paid for? It happens too often man. It's sad, but those days of us buying from a seed company, are long gone.
So, if you dont want to be one of the cows to be milked, this is golden advice.
Haters are gonna hate, they will come. Some people heavily identified with the long-day or 24 hour lighting will have their egos hurt. Nobody likes to be doing it wrong. Just the smart ones change.
Study horticulture and how it relates to short-day plants and cannabis, not the recetly invented "cannabis botany" beilef system which is disinformation. Use regular cannabis seeds from a breeder you can trust for high quality genetics. Probably wont find them on google or paid advertisements by seed companies. If you need some good genetics to get started, people like us are still out there. We are at war and people cant even recognize what we are fighting for.
We are fighting for your access to medicine, fighting for your spirit and mind. The more you fall victim to their tactics, the further our heritage of human medicine slips out of everyone's hands. They have a lot of money and have a lot of clowns trying to keep the info away from you so that you stay hypnotized, believing, buying, and repeat. They have already planned and started their end game. Dependency, is slavery. And I am against slavery of all kinds.
I want you to be free
There will be a lot of noise after this. But it's just noise. The message got through.
Unfortunately it's going to be rough for new people. There are vested interests wanting to screw up your grow just to sell you products to fix it, and worse.

The phytochemical diversity of commercial Cannabis in the United States
The legal status of Cannabis is changing, fueling an increasing diversity of Cannabis-derived products. Because Cannabis contains dozens of chemical compounds with potential psychoactive or medicinal effects, understanding this phytochemical diversity is crucial. The legal Cannabis industry...
