Nice Cpu Fan link

I've got to recommend 120mm computer fans for good, stationary cooling.
The link for the 80mm fans you provided doesn't show you the dB (decibel) rating, and I'd think that if that were a feature they were proud of (being quiet), they'd have advertised it.

A smaller fan needs to spin at a faster speed to move the same amount of air that a larger fan can move at a slower speed. Know what I mean?

When I had a bat-wing reflector I hooked up two 120mm fans behind the bulb on the sides, and it really helped to move the heat away so I could get my plants as close as possible to the bulb without them getting scorched.

I tried using ebay to find the fans but found that the shipping was about 600% more than the actual cost of the damn fans. You may find a little computer shop that sells them for cheap in your area.

G'luck,
JC

Kinko Any idea where to find one that plugs staight into wall without transformer (voltage adapter)?

Dont know where to find em Kinko, but they tend to be rather pricey...If I remember right somewhere around $20-25 EACH if I'm not mistaken

I use 84cfm rated 120mm fans I picked up of Ebay...They are HD, with thick heavy gauge plastic bodies, not your typical CPU fan...Found them for like $2.95 each...Bought 6 and with shipping cost was somewhere near $26 or so

Likewise you can find the 12VDC adapters as well on Ebay...I also picked up 6 10.5V to go with the fans (common sense hehe)...They were also around $2.75, and with shipping came to $24-$26...I went with the 10.5V to slow the fans abit and quiet them down (instead of 12V), but also not so much as to lose too much cfm's...If you look at Ripoff Shack, I've seen these for close to $15 or so EACH

Grow safe

kmk_goldenlung hidhut has some nice looking fans that are 120 Volt AC. Include power cord. 105 CFM - 54 Decibels @1 Meter

Yes kmk...Very nice fans, but at $32 a pop, that can get rather expensive, especially if 3 or more are needed

Mechanically they are pretty quiet with the 10.5V adapters...Not sure of the decibel rating on my particular model tho...One thing thats rather noisy is the fact that I have the fans mounted inside my cabinet and they are blowing thru a 4" hole...Fans actually measures close to 4 3/8" so there is a bit of a "whoosh" sound...Not real loud, but fairly noticable...On the other hand I have 1 sucking air thru my DIY cool-tube setup and its close to silent...Total stealth isnt needed here so its something I can live with

I have 4 of these running in my cabinet...3 total in my flower chamber, and another venting my veg chamber...Along with another 80mm Papst fan cooling my electrical chamber (altho this one is 110v)

I plan on mounting the fans on the outside when I get a chance to move them...I think by having them pull the air out of the cabinet, it should get rid of some of the "whooshing" sound...I have to re-work my scrubber setup anyways so I'll do all my rearranging at one time

One thing I def recommend is to put some sort of rubber or foam gasket around the edges of the fan(s)...This will help isolate the vibrations from transfering to whatever solid material the fans are mounted to

Heres a pic from my cabinet under construction...In the lower chamber, upper middle you can see the 2 fan holes and the gaskets for the scrubber...Cooltube has 1 fan pulling air thru

Hope this helps and Grow safe guys
