Hi I'm new here, thought I would post this: After reading the news report what are your thoughts why this happened? I have my own opinions some things are really obvious but what really led to the bust?
PEARLAND, Texas – A man and a woman were behind bars Monday after investigators say they discovered a sophisticated pot-growing operation in a Pearland home.
The investigation began when members of the Pearland Police Department and Brazoria County Narcotics Task Force developed information about possible marijuana-growing activity at a home in the Avalon Terrace subdivision.
Working undercover, agents said they confirmed the existence of the grow house, and officers obtained a search warrant.
The warrant was executed at a home in the 2600 block of Avalon Cove Lane on January 25, 2012.
Investigators said the entire home had been converted to grow pot.
Officers said the system included a complete air-filtration system throughout the home to mask the smell of the pot, as well as industrial-grade lighting in multiple rooms.
Officers seized 244 marijuana plants and 32 pounds of hydroponic pot – a haul worth nearly $523,000 on the street.
Investigators also said the electric meter at the home had been bypassed, so the unusually high power consumption at the home wouldn’t draw the attention of utility companies.
Two suspects, Huu Quang Dinh and Thuy Trand Thi Nguyen, were arrested in connection with the investigation.
Both are facing felony charges of possession of marijuana and misdemeanor charges of diverting a power supply.
They were being held in the Brazoria County Jail Monday on $45,000 bond apiece.
