Nearly 800 Marijuana Plants Found In Police Raid Of Bronx Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — You might call it a marijuana mega mansion.

Police raided a five-floor commercial building in the Bronx Tuesday afternoon that was filled with marijuana plants from wall to wall.

Three men in their 20′s are currently being questioned by authorities.

The building, located on Morris Park Avenue, had nearly 800 plants, some measuring 7 feet.

CBS 2′s John Slattery said there were no sleeping quarters inside, but the building fostered the perfect environment for growing the plants.

Slattery reported that inside there was an elaborate set-up of water and air filtration systems and that the drugs were allegedly packaged on the top floor.

Neighbors in the area said they were surprised and never suspected anything.

“It just looked like it was a mechanics every time I walked by,” said Ricardo Morales.

“That’s crazy…because I used to walk past this every single day. I live down the block on Garfield,” said Maria Candelaria. “Never even smelled nothing come out from this place.”

Police are removing marijuana from the building as the suspects continue to be questioned.

Damn that is ballsy....in the friggin bronx lol? How the hell is rent alone even worth it?

Yea most definitely a snitch. Someone in the loop got popped with something, and dropped the dime to save themselves......Sad but way too often a true story. People can't deal with consequences of their own actions, then need to push it off on someone else. Sucks. None of the dudes got charged with cultivation though, just possession. Too bad its possession of a lot of shit though.

Cops dont bug me, there just doing their job, i know there are big headed ones who suck worm shit, but we need them. I think of course it could have been a snitch who got busted and made a deal, but i can see the competition dropping a dime as posted above too. But that type of scale, your going to deal with people you dont know or your product would not get out. But if someone went small, then build a customer base who only gets your product could snowball. It all depends on how greedy you are? If you just want to pay your house payment and maybe hit Vegas once an a while, i think a person could pull it off. But i would have one main person, and they wouldn't even know where the grow was, only me and partners who grow. And grow under the nose is best IMHO.

I remember a story in high times call a jungle in the Bonx and showed one floor full of plants growing they were growing strawberry cough, reporter said they beg him to do a story on them, at the time a few years back.

thats the June 2005 issue if high times with The Game featured on the cover and Downlow is correct Jungle in the Bronx is the name of the story. if thats them, they got away with it for a long long time!!!
