Fungal/Insect induced infection?

Fungal/Insect induced infection?

I've read some threads. Iam so sorry to hear of this 'black death' in Hawaii.

I have a plant limit. Any general input Re greplacing this plant? Is this new shoot a sign of terrible things to come? Possibly spread to other plants. All unaffected.

I clipped the first purple tip I saw thinking it was externally induced. It was replaced by the tip I am in question about to the present day. Any feedback welcome.

Widow hybrid (sensi star?) it's sister seed plant doesn't show any sign. I've noticed widow hybrids sometimes have quirky leaf growth surprises here and there

One plant showed a purple top. Upon questioning pathogens and disease with a new shootthe plant was removed. Its most vigorous sister shiwed a top. Has been clipped and its been approximately a week and no sign yet of a new top showing a questionable defecient looking shoot

Following previous post. No new dark coloured growth tips. Plant in question is furthest along in what can be considered mid-week 1 flowering

I have to join in!

I 've never seen this ever before. Very strange. But sounds like you have it under control now.

Happy smoking!

There's a couple threads about this floating around.

I just chopped down a GSC M that was 4' tall almost 6' wide.
I don't want it spreading to my other babies.

I have had this same problem in my garden.
It would seem in my experience that on some plants it just slowly goes away - but then on others just gets worse and worse until all the new growth is
stunted and the flowers end up with not much resin.
I normally just give those that have it bad the chop.

I still can't help worrying about the safety or health effects of consuming finished product off such a plant that exhibits questionable growth where the health of the plant is in question.

In all probability, it is a Phytoplasma. This is a Bacteria, that has no cell walls, and can conform to most any shape. It lives in either the Xylem, or Phloem, cant remember which one. I think Phloem.

Transmitted mainly by Leafhoppers, but also Broad, and Russett Mites, or anything that bites the plant, and is infected. But mainly Leafhoppers in the Mainland USA.

There is no cure, and if an insect/mite est gets on an infected plant, bites it, and goes o to another Uninfected Plant, is likely to become infected.
Sometimes they do come out of it, but usually don't, and are stunted ect, if they do come out of it.

The bugs, get the disease mainly from American Elm tress, but there are also other vectors.

Best thing is to start early insect/mite control.. Mites are not Insects. Insecticide in general will not be effective vs Mites.
But Leafhoppers are usually the main culprit..

We have a big thread on it at remrafcht

Phytoplasma in cannabis was first discovered in Iran, by 2 Botanists in 1967-68. A year later it was found in India.

Its very possibly.
Witches Broom. My buddy has lost 2000 plants from it in the last 6 years, and losing more this year.

Your plants are very hungry. I would guess Ca and P are very low. When you clip stuff off, the roots have a chance to catch up with the growth, which is why your symptoms seem to go away.

The fading on the older leaves tells quite the story....

Its neither PH, nor Phosphorus deficiency, Calcium ect, or Cold.

Heres some photos of some infected plants. Some can come out of it, to a point, but most die.

Theres a lab in Cali that can test it, but its $275.

My buddy has lost no less than 2000 plants... males/females to this in the last 6 years.

Some early on, some mid growth, some when flowering starts. Takes 10-40 days for infection to rear its ugly head.

Bad clone.

Good clone.

I would argue that folks are seeing a number of issues, especially if on clones as most have an open wound where the cut was made. Never closed up. Result is wood rot or any other pathogen you have floating around.

The answer again is getting the nutrition correct up front, especially on the mom's and knowing the correct way to clone. Just cause you got roots doesn't mean you did it correct.

Nope, not clones, and is in both Soil, and Promix BX/20 gallon grow pots. PH 6.2-6.5. Chem Grow fertilizer. 4-20-39 ( Base Fert ) x 15.5-0-0 ( Calcium Nitrate ) x Epsom Salts...19.5-20-39 base formula x Epsom Salts. They get fed small doses Each Watering, and have been doing it like this, inside, in Promix BX for a very, very long time.

Also use 0-52-34 ( MonoPotassiumPhosphate ) in weeks 3-4 in an 8 weeks flowering strain. Extra Epsom Salts in weeks 5-6.
Soil is never wet longer than 4 days. A good plant, in a 20 gallon container/Promix BX will use 4 gallons water, every 3.5 4 days, or 1 gallon per day average. Often only 3.5 days though. Never let to wilt/get to dry. At 82 degrees, 68-72 at night, and a slight wind.

My buddy had been dealing with its for at least 5 years, as of last year, this is 6th year. My buddy has been growing weed 40+ years, as have I, and is 70 years old. Im am not there yet...Never had 1 problem until 6 years ago.

I had brand new seeds last year, never opened.

Coastal Seeds

He also sold F1. PNWHP x NL1 with no backcross with F1 Male.
Black Lights 4 packs... Same as above. KILLER stuff. Mom.. 95 Black Domina cut, won 2018 Humboldt Cup x Best Indoor Indica.
ThSeeds The Hog 4 packs

No cigs for me, or my buddy. None of my friends really smoke cigs anymore.

TMV also has different symptoms. Not Black/Purple.

Phosphorus deficiency is known to make plants more susceptible to bacteria infections and is used in many cases in the form of phosphites to control bacterial infections like canker. Dr Don M Huber, Mineral Nutrition and Plant Disease.
