NEWBIE QUESTION PLEASE HELP

Okay ladies and gentlemen this will be my first big time grow.

I have a 5x5 grow area

I have a 1000 w hps and 400 watt mh.

Vortex fan, mylar, and a carbon filter.

my question to you guys would be what would be the best way to maximize yield with this operation

how many plants should i scrog under the 1000 watter, (they would be cloned) and probably planted in soil.

some advice about the best way to keep the perpetual harvest going. and often i could harvest using clones.

I have had 3 or small successful grows with a 150w hps and some cfls.

I hate to ask this because every newb does, but with my new setup i just described, what do you think my harvest, dry weight, could pull in?

Thanks for your time fellas!

Sites like this really help the culture grow and I couldnt do it without ya'll feedback

1000W is good for a 4x4 area. So a 4x4 screen maybe put 8 plants under it. You could do less, depends how long you want to veg and train them for.

For a perpetual harvest you need a separate area to maintain mums and a smaller area for cloning. I do SOG'S and put the clones straight on to 12/12. This keeps them small and gives me a quick turn around with no veg time. With my strain I can harvest at 6 weeks but this is very indica dominant.

If you can get 1 gram per watt you are doing well, good luck, put up some pics when up and running.

It all depends on how you do. SCROG and SOG are both great ways to maximize yield but there are so many factors involved its hard to tell. If you're going with a soil SCROG and have mastered some micro growing with a 150w and cfl's along side of doing decently with your first set of runs with this you should produce more than you could smoke on your own twice over maybe. Trial and error friend, focus more on taking care of the ladies and they won't disappoint. Also a more advanced technique called 'defoliating' could have some merit. That amongst many other things will determine each harvest especially how close together each harvest is.:tiphat:

I really appreciate the info guys. I'm still trying to get an estimate of weight per say though with that area and coverage and ventilation.

could you guys come up with a range?

oh and more advice is welcomed!! thanks all.

Clones will do just as goodwith T5 floros, at least for intial rooting, as the 400w. T5s' are cooler (Temps F) than the 400w mh and will cost alot less to run.

Take the 400 mh, growzilla hood (2 bulbs) and put the 400w mh in there with the 1000 HPS for veg/bloom. 1400w.. with 400 blue for growth.

Yield will dependant on getting 'all' issues resolved.. heat, air, nutrient content, Ph.. None of them are initially easy.
If all is good, with your set up, 18-30 ounces (dry) should be easily achievable.

thanks for the info.

after doing some research, the 1000 with the additional 400 for flowering sounds like a good idea.

you guys are awesome.

okay here's a new question. say i gutted the whole room and had a 7x4x9 grow area.

What would be advice on lighting/venting (deep south), and any grow methods you can give advice on.

this is my first major grow (have done personal grows before)

but due to recession, cash is low. and this empty space might be the key to not losing my house.

To be honest, I'd stick with four plants. I've found people try to cram as many plants as they can underneath the screen but from what I've found with my scrog is using only a few plants, and using the full screen to spread them out gives you numerous bud sites, and they become very full buds instead of plants where you'll get popcorn at the bottom because they have no space to be put through the screen cuz you have so many plants.

I'm with you MJ... I run 2, or 1, at a time (3x3') Scroged..
More than that is too much tangle..For me.
