Newbie nutrition & water temperature question.

Hi all,

Excuse the newbie question, how often you water your plant if you are growing in soil using one of them air pots ? And how much water you give per plant? Do you mix all nutrients together when you water? Also how important is the water temperature and how do you adjust it to the optimum temperature?

Thank you all in advance.

i have been growing in soil for years and follow the 'less is more' philosophy...

water amount depends on what the plant needs...i follow a full wet/dry cycle... i allow the pots to become light and then water until pots are heavy with minimal over flow remaining in the trays and then wait until the pots are light again and repeat...

seedlings and clones need minimal water when starting off and only use small 1/2 - 1 cup amounts...never water the whole pot to make it soaked as this is when problems set in...as the plants get bigger the water increases and so does the frequency. i generally start with clones and water once every 5 - 7 days and as the plants grow the frequency increases to every 2 days as they mature....

i use a basic quality amended potting mix that lasts for up to 10 weeks or so then i start adding salt based ferts...again starting weak and moving slowly to a stronger mix never going over the recommend measurements...

i never ever bother with water temp...haven't used a ph/tds meter for years

the single biggest mistake people make is over watering especially for young/small plants in big pots, avoid plants sitting in water for extended periods...never more than a day at most...

good luck...

I mostly agree with above ^^^
I have found the Weather makes a difference. Hot as hell I sit my pots in wide saucers to about an inch depth (Oh sorry: 25mm). You might have to do this come 100 degrees temps (Oh sorry 38 degrees C). Like a big Sativa in a 20 litre pot (Oh sorry 5 gallons) will drink 10 litres a day under those conditions.
So there's no hard and fast rules for how much.

Yeah this watering and nutrient is confusing me, as a newbie who didn't grow yet.

get yourself 45 cm sized pot, a bag of searles advanced potting mix add a rooted seedling/clone and you will be fine for 12 - 14 week grow cycle...

this is optional, but will make for a better grow: seasol once a week and powerfeed lightly from week 8 or so..add sulphate potash as you get into flowering...stop feeding for last 2 - 3 weeks of flower, water only...
