Hey all, First time really really growing I've had plans to in the past but as of now i have 3 seeds starting as a trial run under 300w cfl bulbs. they are just bag seeds ive had for a while but i just got in the mail today a 5 pack of feminized big buddah seeds blue cheese 1 dinafem og and 2 regular afghani seeds. really excited for the afghani hoping for a male to collect some pollen and possibly make my own crosses but back on to my main topic im using fox farms ocean forest soil in a 6 quart container my main concern is watering, i dont want to over water them and kill them but i dont want to under water them. how long between waterings should i wait? the drainage is not too slow and the soil does hold water pretty well should i wait till the like top layer is dry? is there another soil i could be using that is better? with the 3 i have growing currently they have popped thru the surface of the soil but they have not shown any true leaves and theyve been growing for almost 4 weeks under 12/12 light schedule, height is an issue so i figure is i start 12/12 from seed that would bring down the height of the plant but i do plan on LST or SCROG. any feedback would be very helpful. will post some pictures soon :tiphat:

I dunno about the 12/12 right off the hop. I been out of the indoor game for over 10 years though and just getting back into my groove.
Usually when I flip seed plants early I wait until the 3rd nodes have formed, so the second set of true leaves are displayed and healthy new growth well started at the base of each fan leaf. I never did it for yields, just mainly to do a fast test on seeds from crosses. I start these on 18/6 , keep the temps up 80f to 84f to really speed up the roots.
Now, bear in mind, I make no claims to be a pro gardener, just adding my own thoughts.
I'd be interested to hear from others with experience raising seedlings on 12/12 though. Always something new to learn and try ;)

got some pics finally the one thats by itself is dinafem OG and the two closer together are afghani all three were freebies with my order from herbies headshop

the og is growing kinda weird..on the fan leaf it only has 2 fingers i have moved them from on container to another a couple of times wondering maybe if that could be root damage or stress or a combination and if there is anything i can do to fix it i have on the way fox farm grow big fertilizer, says it promotes healthy root growth so im hoping that will help maybe haha

dont be hating on my box haha it is a cardboard box from a pots and pans set i have 2 fans, one on top and one on the side that blow air through..im poor and its working good so far from what i can tell i do plan on upgrading but for now its a start

I would veg those seeds under 24 hrs light for a good cpl weeks. Then top em if you are concerned about height. Definitely let the soil dry out a little bit. Pick up a plant that has been watered and compare the one that may need water. Good luck to you.
