Newbie Grow Cab

Alright guys I just built this cab and I'm trying to figure out the ventilation. I read through the sticky and cant make sense of it. The box itself is 24"Wx30"Hx12"D with 8 23w cfls. Would 2 120mm PC fans for exhaust and 8 2 inch holes for passive intake be enough?

really depends on the quality of the pc fan, you could play it safe and just buy a bathroom exhaust fan from homedepot/lowes.

might be a little louder tho.

thanks sour for the reply. i installed 2 120mm 45cfm pc fans for exhaust and drilled 8 2 inch holes for intake and the temps went from 120f to 92f. still too hot. im going to throw 2 more fans and see if i can it down to 80 degrees and i also read about putting frozen water bottles in the cab to kind of chill it like a cooler.

You would be better off getting a bathroom exhaust fan like soursmoker said, you could maybe use pc fans but the ones you are running i assume are only 0.15 amp fans, you should look for something with more amp rating as usually they tend to have more cfm, I tried out a coolermaster sickleflow & the one zalman i had was almost pretty fast, the 45 cfm fans are the slowest pc fans on of the latter and are only used to extract small amounts of air with very little torque.

thanks for the input purple. i checked out some bathroom fans and they just seemed too much for a small cab like this. i checked out some other pc fans and will consider upgrading the ones i have if i really need to after trying to add the other 2 fans i have lying around. i dont want to spend too much money on this as i dont grow often and when i do its outdoors. this whole cab was built with stuff i already had minus the lights, sockets and power strips.

I went to my surplus store and got what they call a truck fan. It was written in marker. I'm guessing its for the rad. It is about 7 inch in diameter. I have it packed away but ill see if I can find it and let u know more about it. A lot more powerful then a pc fan.
