Newb question - is my closet big enough?

Hey all,

I'm about to start my first grow and was wondering if you guys could tell me if the size if sufficient. I have a closet that is 5'w x 7'h and 2' deep. I know the height and width is fine but is 2 feet deep enough? I'll have about 3 or 4 hashberry plants going in there. I know its a basic question but I don't want to start on modifying it if its not a good size.

yer easy man ... ive grown in smaller than that .. its the height that matters not the depth ... how big do you wanna grow them and in what system /soil?

normally your meant to give the average size plant 1 foot square of space

but i grew 12 plants at 3 foot tall each under a 250watt in a space of 2ft D x 3ft W x 7ft H and yeilded 12 oz (336grams) with a DIY hydro drip system (like a wilma system) and on top of that i made 3 oz of the nicest hash mate mates have ever smoked (from the crystals on the cut off leaves)

420grams of white widow x super silver haze under a 250watt HPS in a space smaller than yours .... you just got the use the space well !

Thanks George! I though it was big enough but just wanted to make sure. I guess I want to grow the plants no larger than 4 or 5 feet high. I'll be growing in organic soil with a 400w HPS. After seeing your grow I'm considering a 250 watt. This being my first grow I'm not ready to mess with hydroponics.

Dude your plants make me drool! Widow Widow and Super Silver Haze, what a combo. I can't believe you grew that many plants with that kind of yield in such a small space. That is very encouraging. That last pic in your post is amazing

thanks man ... you would be surprised how easy it is to set up a hydroponic set up ... in fact its easier than watering by hand everyday !

tell you what if you dont wanna do the hydro thing at least think about setting up a automatic watering system (sound complicated ...it isnt!) will water when you go out ,when your too stoned to stand up and when your sleeping ....

and depending where you live (ie which country usa /uk) i will tell you where to get your stuff : ).

and get a 400watter it will double the yeild lol...
and 2ft DEEP isnt deep enough to grow 4/5ft plants 3ft plants is ok . 4- 5 ft plants are wider than 2&3's unless you want to grow give 1 plant 2ft x 2ft of room up to you ... 4/5 ft plants are better left to outdoors and basement growing closets ,cupboards and wardrobes are better suited to 3 footers max

but dont worry you can happily grow 3footers in that space ...grow 2 deep and 3-4 wide ie 6-8 plants use the rest of the space as storage and systems ... fans etc

you got an idea of a shopping list ? lights,fans,mylar(reflective material),fertalizer etc

you might wanna get a carbon filter too (removes unwanted odour from the grow space so the air coming out doesnt smell like wet honky weed

do you know the basic set up of a grow area?

next time you post add a picture of the area open and i'll photoshop it too show you the set up

oh yer that last pic is pure super silver haze with an extra kick.

its been breed constantly for 18 years by a grower that lives in the south uk , very stricked selective breeding ,, to make it the dog bollox of super haze, doesnt stress, never stops growing will grow twice as fast as a fast growing strain ... always yeilds at a stupid rate and is built for hydro and with a thc rating or 21% ...fuck yer !

we call it "super silver haze- super strain"

we think it was crossed with the original G13(government created) at some point

if you live in the states there is a tiny problem that has an easy solution ... seeds there illegal and there are companies out there that screw you over to the cunts "DEA" ... but there is an eden

Unfortunately I'm in the states with our draconian laws. But I already got my seeds from Dr Chronic. Hashberry. I have heard good things about it and its pretty easy to grow. So I have a pack of seeds and no grow setup, ha. I'm just waiting til next week to get my paycheck to order my light and and other goodies. I'm thinking of getting another strain just to mix things up. Not sure on what to get .I would love to get a nice sativa but I don't have the room. Maybe just a nice sativa dominant strain.

I pretty much know everything I need to get. I have been reading quite a bit and have a few DVDs. I'm looking into get this grow kit. You can't beat the price. http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=51374 There are a few more items I need to get that are not included in the kit but not much. I'm going to cut a hole in the ceiling of the closet and put and exhaust fan in that leads to my attic which has a vent to outside. The vent is high up and I don't have neighbors close by but I'm going to get a charcoal filter anyways. I'm not sure if I want to do the mylar or the white plastic for reflective material. I hear arguments for both.

One question though, how do I keep the plants at 3 feet? Do I have to use Scrog?

How is the high on the Super Silver Haze? My mouth is watering for that now, thanks, lol.

if you wanna keep the plants at 3 foot just come to the conclusion the flowering plants double in height even indica's then all you do is flower when they reach 14/18" tall

any plant can be flowered from 12" or more ... and no need for scrog : )

yer the package looks fine the only thing worth anything is the light and its a good reflectorso you will save some money ...

mylar 100% ive tryed both and mylar comes out top . i had this same convosation about mylar vs white plastic a few years ago and mylar still came out on top ... thing is about anything white is as follows:

a reflective object or material that reflects light is at the top of its class if it doesnt glow ..

when you shine a light on a white surface in the dark it glows white the same of any thing that has a colour, even black. the colour absorbs light and makes it glow .. like in the med with all those whitehouses they glow in the sun because there painted a colour (yes white is a colour) ...if they were painted chrome you wouldnt be able to walk down the road coz you would see the sun everywhere lol.. you would be blinded ... white absorbs light and glows mylar doesnt

mylar is soo reflective it doesnt glow is just bounces the light right back (like a mirror) ... so i would go for mylar every time because it doesnt glow

Thanks for your help george. I'm looking to get some type of sativa or sativa dominant strain to share the space with. Hopefully I can find one that doesn't require a huge amount of space.
