I've read countless ways on how to prune but I just don't understand what you're supposed to do? I dunno if you cut the whole top leaves off or what, can someone please tell me?

PRUNING

Pruning can be done by simply removing any dead diying growth to keep it healthy. Also pruning is done to maximise the amount of cuts as the plant will revege with more growth,in other words it will thank you for it.
If pruning is required its best to take a cut at least 3-4 inches and place it in water. If you change the water every few days youll have roots.
Pruning can also be done to alter the shape of the plant.Topping is a method used by people who want short bushey plants. This pratice should only only be employed after the forth week of growth for best results, some strains vary and require topping or pruning if grown indoors. Its also a great way to improve yeild.Any pruning should be done before flowering as you want your plant to focus all her energy in producing fat buds instead of confuseing her.
Ill be happy to answer any other questions you might have,I hope you can start enjoying the benifits.PEACE. :joint:

Pruning is just getting rid of dead leaves and unwanted bud sites. Most plants will end up focusing all the energy they get to the very tops of the plant where the most new growth takes place. Pruning these "popcorn nug" sites will focus all the energy wasted on these sites into new growth. Topping is a method of training used to SUPPOSEDLY get more yield. Doesn't make sense how cutting your main top produces more but hey, whatever. Prune your plants whenever you water them and don't prune too much at once or the plant will get shocked. Do about a 1/4 of what needs pruning each week and everything should be ok. Good luck!

I thought got a higher yeild because if you chop the main shoot, you have 2 half the size, but it is easier to train them so the whole of the bud is near the light, rather than just the top.

to train your plants try LST i have a great tutorial in my gallery, instead of toping the plants main growth node try FIM . FIM is where instead of removing the whole top take the growth shoot very top cut all but bottom 10%. if done wrong ya just toped the plant n/p if done right he he the top main will remain a single cola top plant but the cells left in the 10% are deviding wildly. the result is 4-8 new branchs from the main stem 4-8 new tops he he then tying down LST method you'll achieve a more even canopy
and to really increase the yield potential scrog that baby. scrog requires a longer veg 7-8 wks but well worth the wait, as for pruning i never if leaves are shadowing the lower parts tie the leave outta the way. at most local garden shops they sell 100 ft roll of twisty tie to train stuff with :) cheap buy it. it's what i use for LST works great, the only leaves i remove are any touching soil or i say again or if i can gently tug the yellow/dead looking leaf. if i feel no resistance in the leaf it falls off into my hand, if i feel any resistance i leave the yellow leaf. it still offers the plants a way for photosynthisis<-- spell lol lotsa healthy leaves make bud. its perfectly normal for the leaves to yellow during the last few wks of flowern< if you choose the LST method to increase your yield and maximumize your grow erea i highly suggest LST combines with FIM. when you tie the plant down for LST make sure ya secure the plant's bottom 1st very important secure it 1.5-2 inch off soil to 1 side of container. then gently pull the top down when ya feel tension stop and secure her. better to adjust each day {just take's few} untill desired effect then break the plant in two.

remember healthy leaves make fruit if ya cut them off your yield will be effected my 2 pence puff puff passn

due you mean prune or top? prune you would cutt off dying leaves , and leaves in the way too much. Toping just cutt of the top of the plant above the last set of leaves. Cut of the entire top above the last node.

leaves in the way too much shouldnt be cut unless they touch the soil just use bread twisty tie type material or coated paperclips to pull leaves outta the way Good Healthy Leaves = food for nugs to make them larger. anytime ya cut rip or tear the plant in any way shape or form this causes undo stress on the plant. it slows production and starts repairing if a leaf looks dead then gently give it a gentle tug if it comes off it's yours, if there's any resistance it really should stay untill its ready. a yellow leaf still offers the plant a means to transfer sugars during photosythnisis :). and if your not in flower and your vegn and have yellow/dead leaves something maybe up w/your soil PH if leaves yellow during veg check PH. if they yellow mid way through flowern probably wasnt enough N during the 1'st few week stretch of 12/12 if soil PH is fine.

here's FIM tutorial from OG
