~Newb Ginger looking for any advice/suggestions for first run~

I have good idea but looking for reassurance
-400w MH & HPS or 600w necessary?
-3x3 flood&drain
-16 pots/plants O.K.? have enough room to grow or too crowded?
-any suggestions on rest of the room area to construct cloning section?
-have a roll of Pandafilm to put around flood tray..is entire room necessary?

16 seems a bit much for 3x3. I'd go with 9.

If you are new to this i would start with 9 plants in 3 gallon pots.. run 100% coco and run drain to waste.. you could use that walmart tote as your rez and just run a 5 gallon bucket under the tray to collect any runoff.. I have done Hydro for years and after switching to Coco I am never going back. So much more forgiving and consistent weight!

Check out the drain to waste post i posted today.. I am going to add to it a little each day over the next week or so.. and i would recomend Botanicare CNS17 nutrients.. one part and very easy. just add a bit of CalMag since growing in Coco always requires a bit more!

forgot to mention.. i would run a 600w for sure but if heat becomes an issue you could drop down 400 if you have the dimmable ballast. A 600w light barely covers a 3x3 area.. it covers 2x4 slighty better in my experience depending on hood/reflector..

If you are trying to get a decent harvest the extra 200 watts is really going to help.

You could just snag a few 2x4s and make a quick little framing job around that table.. add a zipper door then put your cloning setup next to it.. it could be extremely small if you are only running 9-16 plants and build a shelf.. mothers on the bottom, small cloning setup on the top.

what is your plan for ventilation? that is one of the most important parts of growing and it is a huge pain in the ass to do ventilation last.. get that all setup before you put up your panda.

How big is the room? You could get a grow tent like this one:

...get a 175w MH (build your own ballast, it's really easy) and use it for your veg room.

ya this is my first grow...what you mean by "run drain to waste"?
sorry just new to this i have the reservoir underneath the flood tray is that what you mean?
