New room - ventilation questions

Hey guys,

So, its been awhile since i've set up a room, and have yet to set one up this large... Could definitely use some pointers/lots of critique/criticism! Thank you in advance

I am in the process of reconstructing an existing room in a basement. The walls/ceiling will be insulated, sealed with panda film, and 3/4 inch drywall installed on interior walls. All seams will be caulked. Air will be brought in (passively for now) from a 6 or 8 inch duct, running from the room, along the floor joists, roughly 4 feet to a window (extra temperature control). Air will be exhausted roughly 8 feet from the room, up through the chimney. The room will be completely sealed with the exception of the intake and exhaust described above.

The new dimensions will be:

Length 10'10" x Width 6'1" x Height 6'10" - for an area of roughly 450 cubic feet.

So here's where im confused. Inside the room, I will be setting up a 4x8 GG Lite tent, roughly 332 cubic feet. 2 1K HPS, A/C reflectors.

Plan is to independently pull air through the lights using a 6" fan, with a scrubber attached outside the tent. Why you may ask? Extra scrubbing. Trying to eliminate smell completely... its a must, out of courtesy to tenents... despite the legality.

Inside the tent is where the primary scrubbing will take place. Was thinking 8" or 10" fan and scrubber?

So, total room area in terms of ventilation, is about 450 cubic feet, and 332 cubic feet for the tent. Should I only factor in the total room area, since the room air will passively be drawn into the tent? Should I subtract the area of the tent from the room, and scrub both the inside and outside, based on their respective cubic footage?

How many air changes per minute would you recommend for the most efficient scrubbing, while not harming your plants? 1aCPM? I believe 1 air change per 5 minutes was the absolute minimum?

Not sure that it matters, but I am fairly set on purchasing Hyper Fans and Phresh Filters.

So based on those products specifically, the 6" HF will pull 315 CFM, the 8" HF pulls 710 CFM. I plan to have these dialed down quite a bit, so the CFM loss from the scrubber, and running the fan at 50% on average, will put me around 30% of the max CFM for the fans.... sound about right?

I am estimating around 300 cfm air exchange total, or about a minute and a half per air change. About 3 every 5 minutes...

Hows my hillybilly math sounding? I should probably leave the wax alone when trying to figure these things out :(

Also, will I need an intake fan?

Would it be better to push scrubbed air from inside the tent through the a/c hoods, and out through the chimney, then bring in filtered air from the current passive intake duct exiting the room?

I will try to get some pictures up of the reconstruction in the next week to give a better idea

This won't be a complete answer. If you want to control heat you'll need 2 exchanges per minute.

If your lamp cooling system is sealed you don't need to filter it. I'll wait for your additional info to go further. -granger

Don't think heat will be too much of an issue for me, as long as I exhaust the lights separate from the tent. More worried about smell escaping the room. Should I use the area of the entire room when figuring out fan size, or just the area of the tent?

And yes lamps will be sealed a/c. Still undecided on which specifically. Raptor, magnum xxxl or dominator xxxl which can be found pretty cheap at the moment. All are pretty wide reflectors

I guess the main reason for scrubbing the lamps was to further scrub the room.

To scrub or not the lamp air depends on whether you intake comes from outdoors or from the room.

Air will come in the room passively through a 6" duct, pulling air from a separate room, just above a window that can be opened. Rest of the room is sealed. Scrubbed air exhausted out of the room and into the chimney.
