New plastic blower fans(like Stanley blower)

Hey folks. I was out shopping today and first at the hardware store I found a Lasko blower fan that is like the Stanley blower, only twice the size, clearly more powerful, and a bit stranger looking. Has anyone else seen that one? I can't find it on Lasko's website. I did find this photo of it on some dude's page using Google image search, but the site doesn't allow direct photo links(they hide the image in a flash file), but here's the URL for the page:

Also, at another store I ran across the Pelonis blower fan, which is actually made by Midea. It's model AIS170-5B. Basically I was walking by the fans and saw this sucker, or felt it more like. It was pushing about the same amount of air as the Stanley, but it was also odd looking and oscillating. It was also quite a bit bigger. I moved the price tag and realized it was on the lowest setting. Turned it up to the maximum and wow! Definitely stronger than the Stanley, and the output nozzle is better for attaching things to in my opinion. I'm going to try this as my ventilation fan for my new cabinet. Got it on sale for under 35 dollars!

I'm using the Lasko 4914 to exhaust a 3' x 3' x 5' (H) room with a 400w HPS in it. It works very well.

That's a 6" to 4" reducer that is bent (widened) and taped with tin-tape to the 'blower' part. Not using as a cool tube. It's hanging right next to the back of the socket and I have setup another small fan that blows across the bulb from the other side towards the Lasko.

It's not a major chain and it's too local to name unfortunately. I'd love to know where else they could be found. Lots of places carry Pelonis fans though, and this model is really new from what I can tell, so maybe more places will have it soon..

That's awesome LJB, cool mod(pun intended)

The reason I like the stanley is because right out of the box no mods required you can fit 6" flex duct over the outlet side (with a good amount of frustration/patience because it doesnt act like it will fit but eventually will) Then Its just as good as a dayton. I just installed one in a friends closet 4x2.5 with a 400 hps and it keeps it no more than 4 degrees above ambient. And LJB nice work on your modded Lasko.

Amazon.com has a good selection of these types of fans from a number of manufacturers. Most qualify for 'free shipping' and might be a source for folks in more rural areas.

Though I can't imagine an area so remote that they wouldn't have a Loew's - aren't they like friggin' everywhere? LOL

They look like a very good investment. I'll have to stop a Loew's and HomeDepot and see what they're offering.

With this economy there might be some good deals - definitely worth checking out.
