Howdy folks. Im shred and im from the mountainy rain foresty wet dark occasionally sunny but almost always cold, and almost never warm lands of a particular state in america.

I was wondering if anyone had tried using hydrogen peroxide in there water to get rid of root rot.

Also i am having problems with my plants. They are acting over watered (drooping curling leaves, kind of bowed in the center of the leaves and a bit pale). I heard you can add like hydrogen peroxide to give them more oxygen? Was jut wondering what i should add and how much..

Thanks!

What kind of medium are you growing in? If you already got root rot the peroxide is gonna kill the bacteria. What you need is to have a better water to air ratio in whatever you're growing in so you don't get root rot in the first place.

I dont have root rot i was just curious. Sorry for being confusing. They are over watered tho and i want to water them before i leave but i want to ad somthign to the water to help them get more oxygen while im gone.. Im growing in 2.8 or so gallon pots and they are in black gold all purpose soil. I was using nutes untill one plant showed some burns so i quit. Not realy sure if they were frome nutes or not but i figured this soil should have enough to live off of for a while longer.. Plants are about a month and a half old

If they are getting overwatered it is easy for them to develop root rot.

I would recommend putting them either into larger pots with a mix of soil and perlite, or putting them into larger pots with coco coir. Either of those is going to increase the air to water ratio for your roots so they don't suffocate.

If you're seeing burns then backing off the nutes is a good idea.

thanks. I beleive my soil already has perlite in it. The pots are already to big for the plants. Most of the plants are between 4 and 6 inches tall. Perhaps poking tubes down into the soil will help?

If they're being overwatered then you need more perlite, or just water less. You can always take them out of the soil and amend it with more perlite and then replant them.

If they're in pots that are too big for them, you're gonna have wet soil that just stays wet because the roots can't drink it all up, and if there's not enough air in the mix, and your roots already got damaged from overwatering you're gonna just have more problems.

Personally I'd replant them with a better mix and/or smaller pots. It will stress them a bit, but they'll recover, and at least they'll be put in appropriate sized containers with a more suitable medium and will be happier.
