New Indoor Soil Grower Looking for Lighting Tips.

Hi All I'm a new indoor grower using soil. I have about 11 plants mix of NY Diesel and Haze. Bag seeds and right now I'm using CFL's. Another member mentioned that they look like they're stretching for the light so I lowered it, but I have come to the conclusion that I need to invest in some better lighting. Anyone have some tips on a website or manufacturer that I can order from that has good quality but isn't gonna rape me on the price? Also what type of lighting would be the best to invest in? Space is limited at the moment so that is why I've been using CFL's but I'm maybe going to look into a grow tent.

Amazon. I'd suggest Ipower digital ballasts and lights. Cheap, 2 year warranty, and good customer service. Most of their systems come with 2 bulbs, a Metal halide blue spectrum for veg, and an HPS for flowering. Any other information such as light size, ventilation, etc. can be found with a search. Word of advice, use the search function before you ask such basic questions because you will be flamed/ignored for asking questions that have been answered 50000 times in 500000 threads. Maybe some new growers will answer, but the people you want advice from will ignore you becasue you didn't search for easily found information. People on here tend to get snippy with people who just want instant answers with no research. You need to take a few days and do 8+ hours of research a day. The sticky thread on ventilation and growroom design is a long and mandatory read. So is just about every sticky thread at the top of the forums.

Thank You....

Thank You for the advice.......I didn't even see that search function.....Rest assure I will use it from now on....Thank you for both tips.

I've been reading for 6 months straight, and that's after 3 months of initial research and a successful first grow. You can get a doctorate in growing on this site. There's so much damned information, every possible variable in every possible scenario has been discussed at length somewhere in here. I guarantee you will find a thread with whatever problem/answer you need, asked by someone doing almost exactly what you are doing, and answered by someone with a ton of experience. Id read the ventilation/design sticky, cloning with jjscorpio, topping, training pruning, soil mixes, the whole lighting thread, curing and drying...I haven't learned this much since statistics. Carpentry, basic HVAC, basic electrical, botany, plumbing, legal, security/surveillance are all things you will have to know to grow successfully. I have expanded my knowledge of all of those things just trying to grow. You can't ask anyone else to help you do something secret and highly illegal, so you have to wear all the hats. the more you read now, the less you will curse later.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone by posting this thread in this forum. I know I could have read the stickys but I figured that products and technology changes so fast and I wanted to get a tip on the newest products that people are using. That is the only reason I posted. I realize I could have searched the web or googled it but I wouldn't know which products were really the best and what everyone's feedback was. Anyway so again.....If I offended anyone by this post I'm sorry and hope you can understand where I'm coming from as a New Grower. Thanks.
