New grower seeking flowering room advice

Hi guys. was gifted 20 private reserve OG clones and figured now was about as good a time as any to start growing my own meds. the babies have been under a 4 bulb T5 for about 2 weeks now and boy am I Impressed with the progress they have made. Currently me and the girlfriend have two spare 10x10 foot bedrooms in our house and have no plans for them so I took them over. One as my veg room and one to flower. i know I have a few weeks to get the flower room ready so ive been researching the cleanest most cost effecient way to have a sucessful flower room. my plan as of now is to buy the XL tent from htgsupply.com it measure about 10x5 feet so it would be perfect for my room. 50 square feet inside the tent and i never plan on flowering more than 30 at a time. my plan is to run 1 1000 watt hps with a cool tube hood. WILL THIS BE ENOUGH LIGHT? right now im gonna have 20 plants but plan to run about 30 at a time once I get up an running. I plan to run a carbon filter to the cool tube out the tent then duct it up through my attic. What size fan will i need? what size carbon filter? thanks for any advice/help. im really impressed with ic and all the knowledge in its forums.

1 1000 light will not light that whole tent bro. try to get at least 50 watts per square foot foot print for flower is my advice, could section it off I guess. 1000w will fit a 4x4 or 5x5.

For the fans measure the cubic feet of your grow space or tent, try to get a fan with CFM that will exchange the air at least once per minute id say. For the filter get one to match your fans cfm.

I ran 2000w n my 5x10 but only used 2/3 of it, wasn't happy with the light spread. I think 4 600s would be boss for that size tent.

if yer gonna do one light id go with the 5x5.

How big you plan on vegging these plants? soil or hydro?

thanks for the advice tony. you think a 5x5 would be enough to house 30 plants? well my hope is to keep a mother or two, and just keep everything perpetual. Once these first clones go in the flower tent have some clones ready to start vegging, then veg them till my flower cycles done ect. my buddy who gave me the clones said not to worry about the mothers that he would have enough clones to keep me going. currently running soil, did a mix very similar to the one in your signature area. These have been vegging for exactly 14 days now and there about a foot tall already. So i guess im looking at about a 3-4 week veg so i can keep them under 5 foot tall. still getting my feet wet, so dont hesitate to tell me if my plan is unrealistic.

my understanding is a master should be pulling 1 gram per watt...so if i run a 1000w light in a 5x5 tent with 20 plants could i realistically be hoping for about 500 grams with my novice status and a little help from a seasoned vet?

It all depends on the size of your pots and how big you want em to get. How much you are aiming to produce and your genetics. If you want to do a perpetual maybe you can do two 4x4 or 5x5 tents and flip em on alternating schedules and use the other room for your moms and clones?

If I were you id go read a bunch of threads and really read up every night. Lots to learn.
Find a thread that is similar to your grow style and see how it goes. For me I got away from doing a lot of plants and growing a much smaller number but bigger.

Id say you should hit .5 gpw easy on a bad day if you do your homework.

For a nice small perpetual I like the idea of 2 4x4 tents with a 600w in each for flower and flip em. Id have it set to pull one tent a month to make it easy on me heh.

I really suggest starting small and working your way up if it is your first grow. My boy elements had a nice tent gong when he got back into it, might be a good read...

Thanks again bro i appreciate all the help. currently have them in 1 gallon pots. may just get the 5x5 tent and flip them all in there little 1 gallon pots at about a foot and a half high? the genetics are really good, my buddy blessed me with some fire that hes been turning out for years now.

ya get a small tent see how it goes and if you wanna upgrade later id just move the 5x5 to be your veg tent. And make sure you read different threads, if you can make time to everyday for a bit youll learn a shitload.
