New Grower...seedling HELP!!!

I recently transplanted my seedlings into bigger containers due to yellowing and proximity of the fluorescent light. The fluorescent light is about 2" away from the seedlings now. Its been about 4 days since transplanting. The seedlings look OK except for the one in the middle. Has dried
yellow leaves. This is day 22 for the seedlings and they appear to be growing very slowly. I am getting anxious and want to transplant soon into 3 gallon containers and put into my grow room. Can I please get any "SUGGESTIONS" and "HINTS" that would help jump start my babies so I can be on my way to a successful first grow.

Thanks
MoneyMan:joint:

Currently: Using Propagation Kit with inclosed flourscent;
Just transplanted into bigger jiffy container; using bottled water instead of tap;
Soil being used is Fox Farm Light Warrior

Those don't look too good. How are you fertilising them, what kind of light/wattage are they under etc... I'd need to know more. But thats a pretty pitiful state at 22 days IMO

I still have them in the propagation kit using an in-closed fluorescent light. I have not fertilzied them yet. I was told not to use any fertilizer until they are ready for the grow room. Was told to just transplant into bigger container.

I'm not familiar with FFOF but the plants don't seem to like that mix, i suggest repoting in either of these mixes;

LC’s Soiless Mix #1:
5 parts Canadian Spaghnam Peat or Coir or Pro-Moss
3 parts perlite
2 parts wormcastings or mushroom compost or home made compost
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
...Wal-Mart now sells worm castings.

Or, if you use Pro Mix or Sunshine Mix...
LC's Soiless Mix #2:
6 parts Pro Mix BX or HP / Sunshine Mix (any flavor from #1 up)
2 parts perlite
2 parts earthworm castings
Powdered (NOT PELLETIZED) dolomite lime @ 2 tablespoons per gallon or 1 cup per cubic foot of the soiless mix.
If you use a 3 qt. saucepan as “parts” in the amounts given above, it equals about 1 cu. ft. of soiless mix and you can just dump in a cup of powdered dolomite lime.
But, a "part" can be anything from a tablespoon to a five gallon bucket. Just use the same item for all of the "parts".

dont transplant them yet. i think you would shock them. first of all a flourescent isnt the best light to use. do a little research on metal halide and high pressure sodium, they are the only way to go. and the yellowing could possibly be heat from the light. put your hand under it and see if its uncomfortable. other than that check out the infirmary forum.

2" from light is the mistake i think, try like a foot at that size. once they put on a little more girth, drop the lights closer like 4-6"

the flourescent light is fine. as long as they don't touch the bulb. the closer the better. fflw has no nutes in them beside for some ewc i think. they need to be fed. there is probably a crap root system under that mix also. give them a good balanced fertilizer at 1/4 strength to start and go from there. and don't touch those dried up leaves until you see some normal growth, then clip em' what kind of food do you plan on giving them?

"Miracle Grow All Purpose Plant Food"

If you use that, make sure you get the box that says that :)yeahthats) word for word.

I use 1 teaspoon/gallon when nursing plants to health and it works great, regular dosage if you continue to use it in veg would be 2 teaspoons (or just under) per gallon. I've never seen a plant get nute burn using this, but there are better nutrients out there, it's just a good starting point.

I just started growing, but have learned a few things. First of all, I'm not a fan of jiffy pots. I think they are somewhat acidic. I think you would have been better with that Light Warrior in a plastic cup with drain holes.

I started fertilizing too early, and over-watered. I took my seedlings out of their peat pots, actually stripped the peat pot sides off leaving only the bottom where the roots had grown, and re-potted them in 2 to 3 gallon containers, with a mix of 2 parts Ocean Forest, one part Light Warrior, and one part vermiculite over a bed of sterilized large gravel/stone, flushed them good when re-planting, then next watering used plain water, no ferts. They came back quick, and for right now I'm just using 25% Big Grow ferts (once so far).

I don't think your floro light is too close at all. Years ago I grew only under floros and had plants growing so fast that when I got home from work the top leaves would be right in the tubes. Never burned a leaf.

I think you should fertilize them at a 25% rate now, then see how they react. If they look better, do 50%. What are you suing for ferts?

Here's a pic of one of mine after re-potting 22 days from germination...

Good luck!

pH up and down, or a brita filter will fix any pH problems. I use the brita just cause it's a couple less bottles to keep around, and I can use it for drinking water too. :joint:

I have had same problem. If they are @ 22days in those photos, they are stunted due to bad water and will probably not recover. I would start over and use RO water. Check the PH of your tap water first.
