New grower light Questions

Hey Guys I have been doing alot of reading for about 3-4 months now and im getting ready to start growing.
I have built my own grow cabnet/tent it consists of 2 chambers veg and flowering each chamber is 2x2x4 this is all could spare for room. The cabnet is being cooled by a modified Stanley blower with a DIY cabon filter on it. I will be growing a 4 plant purpetual scrog. Im thinking about growing Hashberry or some White Rhino .. or both :)

I have been waiting to buy the lights and i keep changing my mind so here is my question. Do you guys think that 5X 40 watt CFL's would be good for the vegging area or do you think i will need more... For my Flowering chamber im still trying to decide on a 250w or a 400w HPS I want the 400w but im wondering if 400w is to much for a 2x2 area... the room is cooled very well.

What do you guys think?

I will try to get some pics if i can

do you think after i got my grow tuned in i could get about 6 oz from the 250w using a 2x2 scrog? thats what im aiming for

Beefybuds go with htgs,i bought ones of yhese last year for the price you cant go wrong, plus it always nice to have the HO bulb this means bigger yeild.Plus it has a remote ballast so it will help keep temps down if you place the ballast on the outside of grow room.Very nice light for the price, ive had no problems with mine...knock on wood.

Yes a normal 250watt hps puts out 27,500 lum,the bulb you get from HTGS is 33,000lum and is suppose to last ALOT longer.

Yeah get the HO bulb! I picked up a 430 enhanced spectrum instead of a 400, best choice I've made in awhile.

peace.

A 250 costs almost as much as a 400. I'd buy a 400 if you have the money a digital 400 is even better. Good luck.. A 400 is a little tougher to cool in a small area though.

ya thats what i was thinking but people get pretty decent yealds from a 250w scrog and i would rather not have the heat problems...

I have been looking and i think im gonna build my own its damn near half the price to build it and im electonic savvy so i wont have a problem...

I was thinking about using a 250W HPS for the flowering and a 250W MH for the veg room that would be a pretty sweet setup i think

Your box sounds neat and compact! Have you thought about a switchable 400W ballast? If you were to get one of those you could swith from a 400w metal halide duing veg. Then when its time to flower change your bulb to a 400W HPS . The metal halide is the best to vedge under and the HPS is the best to flower under. If you went this ruit i think 250W would be plenty but 400 would be better if you have the spare money and could keep the bulb and room cool enough. Just tryin to give you a different idea because I think the yeild will be better :smoweed: cant wait to see your pics

hey thanks for the input :)

ya im gonna use a 250W MH for my veg room and a 250W for the flowering room i dont think i have the room or the heat capabilitys to do the 400 watt

but i tihnk i can handle heat from the 2x 250 watters in the separate chambers

also ill be building my Lights myself trying to find some good cheap options for reflectors if anyone has any good suggestions let me know i was looking at the some of the ones on here and alot of them requre alot of tools i dont have like rivit guns and metal sheers and stuff is there anything easier?

hey man my first light was a 250 watt from inside sun just like that one i wouldnt do it the light isnt bad but the ballast they send are refurbished unless u specify for a new one and they suck,,,i just got an air cooled hood with tempered glass and i love it its so much better..also bat wing reflectors get so hot i would go cooled.
