new grow

Hi i'm new around here and have been reading around and such and have seen some conflicting opinions on the information that I was looking for. I am looking to start growing with the 5 seeds I got out of a red devil sack. I plan on starting the seeds in a solo cup with coir (someone said you can't start seeds in coir, is this true?) then transplanting at least once, maybe two times but ending up in a 3 gallon bucket. I plan on using whatever CFLs and a 20/4 for veg and then a 12/12 hps for vegging. Also, can I just use straight coir without adding anything? Lastly, when watering with coir is it true that I should water until it starts dripping out the bottom? Any help's appreciated, thanks.

I would let the seeds pop in a paper towel and then transplant to the coco. But you can start them in coco if you want, just make sure its nice and clean. Size of container depends on how long you want to veg. Start small though.

Yes

If you are a beginner, allowing runoff is a good idea. When you become more familiar with the coco, you can do your own experimentation, as the runoff debate is still kinda up in the air.

You should read through the coco threads, as all this info has been answered already...

check out the last link in the top thread "good coco guide....anyone, anyone?"

It explains coco and how to treat it for best results in a very uncomplicated way
