new fan, need speed controller

I have a 6" Elicent 309CFM centrifugal fan and need to slow it down before my plants get sucked out the exhaust :yoinks:

Can anyone recommend a good speed controller? Is a $20 speed controller intended for a ceiling fan what I need? Help!

it will slow ur fan down like u desire. it will most likely take years of the life of your fan also. if a fan is not designed to run at multiple speeds its designed to run at one speed only. the controller u r lookin at will mess with the inerds of the fan motor its gonna heat it up thus killing it sooner than not heating it up.
if u r desperate to control fan spd then i guess its worth it. if u can rethink/arrange your plumbing you may be able to control ur problem w/o the speed controller :chin:
hope this helps
BUZZ!

A speed controller taking life off of the fan... now is this just theorhetical, or does it actually noticably decrease the lifespan of the fan? By how much? How long do these fans typically last, when run in 24/7 mode?
