Hey All,

If the thread already exists, someone let me know. I thought there should be a place for us to come and talk about the great aspects the region has to offer. :headbange

First let me say in representation of all former (???) O'grs that its warming to have somewhere to go after the recent unfortunate happenings. I wish everyone involved saftey and security.

Alright, the season will be here in a few months. Right now I am not in a position to start plants, but a good friend back home started some mother plants about a month ago. The strains are; AK48, Top 44 and NL#5xBB (Thank you Gypsy) and some Afghani Ill be starting from seed come May.

Ill be doing a guerilla style grow high in the hills of West Bumfuck NY. I use water polymers (crystals) and organic, slow release nutes to cut down on the trips.

For now, I only have one spot in mind for sure, but theres a swamp out there that Im hoping to get a good look at befure the season starts.

Thanks for letting us all chill here Gypsy, hope your servers dont get too bogged down.

Later Everyone and feel free to contribute, ask questions or whatever.
Peace
Uhana

Hey bentom,

The safest date round here is June 1st. This takes care of the frost issues and whatnot. Watch www.weather.com's 10 day forecast though and you might be able to safley start earlier. If you can start them indoors to have big plants before spring comes, you can put them out much earlier, say the begining of May.

You know any details on that Skunk strain? My guess is that it will have a hard time making it before the first frost come October...you might have to harvest early or finish them indoors.

Best of luck
Uhana

well all i know is that the stuff i bought was neon green smells like a fruit not sure what type of fruit but its pleasent, not very well manicured and the stone seemed like it was 50/50 really heady then like a hour later its bedtime, it wasnt cured so im certain this stuff is goin to be better.the guy told me hes been getting it from a grower who stated it was sk#1.i popped like 3 seeds and they seem to be pretty uniform except i have one that seems dto be indica dom. really wide leaves ,iv never seen a skunk like that so im hoping its a female to keep as a mother ,is cheese(sk1) indica dom? :bandit:

word up on the NE thread

I was born in rochester, cool to see there is such thing as cultivation in that vacuum that is known as upstate. I live near philly now, trying the outdoor thing this year. i already have a flowering scrog but everyone says some of the greatest weed is landrace outdoor. i'd love to test that statement :sasmokin: already got my mommas and everything!

pm me mayor, i have never actually chatted w/ a grower from my homestate

:)

bentom- Skunk is some dank shit if you can get it to finish in time...GL...Im gona change the name of the thread to New England Area Growers, so feel free to join in.

Welcome Griffin Tree-

Looks like a nice group of beans to me. Its good to get a few different strains in case one fails in the climate your in, but I think all of yours sound like good choices.

As for the soil, yea its not great...but there are simple ways of improving it even if youre doing a lightweight guerilla grow. First thing to know is that pine forrests often have crap for soil. They can really grow in about any soil...the weed of the trees...Soil thats located where deciduous trees grow is generally better. Personally, I have a distinct liking for deciduous woodland because of the dead leaves on the ground come spring. Mix a pile of them into your dirt and it not only slowly releases nutes, but also improves drainage. Make sure to always mix your soil extensivley, to spread the wealth evenly.

To improve the acid soil we have inherited, add lyme to the soil. This is not as important in deciduous forrests, but pine dirt is much more acidic, where the lyme comes in handy. The most soil prep I do for one plant is; one cup lyme; one cup plant tone organic slow release fertiliser, a healthy pinch of water polymers and a few handfuls of leaves. Hope this helps.

Uhana

ps I know its hard to bring out a shovel to the sites, so for the past few years Ive been using a handheld garden rake to mix soil, like the one in the pic.

thanks a bunch for the info mayor. i will take it all into acount, i have alot to learn and its nice to hear from people growin in the same area!! i have never had avery succsesful mj grow but i grow veggies and melons every year, i really enjoy gardening. usaly i jsut use lyme, sea weed and compost for the edibles. this year ill be dragin some out into the forest for secret garden so i got my hopes up this year!!
happy growin!!
