NEW Colorado Growers Thread

On the whole subject of utility bills, I believe the key is simply keeping them paid and the power company happy, there are any number of home businesses that could easily suck up $1000+ in power per month, especially if they're using older, less efficient equipment. Some things that come to mind are pottery, wood working, welding, etc. An older HVAC system can be a huge money drain, washers/dryers, those commercials telling you to throw out your old beer fridge in the garage aren't just propaganda, those things suck down the juice, add in a couple big freezers from 10+ years ago and you'll be surprised by how high your bills get.

I think you're right, for the most part. A grower's power bill is the DEA's for the asking, however. When they get a line on a suspected grower then a huge power bill is just another piece of evidence in building a case. Smart meters also reveal the cycle times of power use, another giveaway. It's hard to imagine anybody but a grower pulling 12KW from 7PM to 7AM every day of the week for months on end.

Problems usually manifest themselves from another direction. Nosy neighbors. Poor odor control. Too much traffic, particularly w/ out of state plates. Visible loading of vehicles. Visible trash from growing. Visible non-code alterations to the electrical service. Child welfare issues. Domestic violence calls. Rollovers.

Unlicensed commercial growers are sitting ducks. Success depends on having the skill of an Apache warrior- hiding in plain sight.

Can never get myself motivated to attend Bongathon, would love to put some of these so called "competitive" dabbers on their asses, but paying to hang out in the middle of nowhere and smoke feels like... a music festival without as much music.

Should I try this year?

imo it's worth it, the party is not only awesome, free beer (if you are into that kind of thing :D ) its a great crew of people, good way to network and enjoy the scenery that colorado is famous for. but y'all knew i was going to say that.
it's actually kind of exclusive, meaning if you CAN you SHOULD because there are and have been those who want to and can't due to lack of access to the right circles and people.... so there's that also.

on the other hand - there is alot going on constantly, if you can't make it... there are other option. i've had good sessions at ibake before that got me "bongathon lifted" and truly dabbed the fuck out... got me saying " i need to let the nanograms of THC in my blood go down before i drive home"...
so if you WANT a party and can't get to BAT or won't or whatver... just party your own way there are plenty of ways even still without a legal avenue for having events or clubs... it happens somehow, believe that.

on that note...
ibake lounge is the oldest smoke club in denver; been up there on north washington just north of the merch mart where the cannabis cup was being held back when colorado allowed high times to throw a cannabis cup (i fucking can't believe i'm typing those words right now, wtf).....
anyhow IBAKE lounge is getting attacked legally by adams county who has been totally OK with them for years and years.... operating legally selling cigarettes, papers, glass... basically a smoke shop you can smoke inside of. not the most relaxed interior, but it's a good resource as a place to meet, a safe place to smoke.... which is increasingly hard to find for people who don't live here ( and increasingly hard to find for people who don't own their own homes, actually - jesus christ i can't believe im typing these words right now but it's true)
so IBAKE LOUNGE
is a spot in north denver- you become a member and can shop and chill.... and smoke
been allowed and ignored by adams county forever.
now they wana shut it down....
duno WHAT exactly i should tell yall to do to slow this down or stop it, but its not like legislation with bill numbers and sponsors and co-sponsors.... im sure ibake peeps could give a nmbr to call or something, i might update this thread with some contact.... what to say to who.
but shit i duno.

Have (free) gatherings at my house with folks I've met on forums all the time. We're havin one today, guy from Oregon, guy from Michigan, several folks from Colorado. We swap stories & beans, we talk growing, we sample each others buds and we have live concerts playing on the TV. see no reason to pay to attend a gathering

Good Times

Was just reading about the possible increase in the tourist amount to match the resident amounts of flowers.

They cite the major problem in out of state export as the "underground growers".

What fucking idiots!

Pretty much every god damn dispensary employee from out of state subsidizes their meager income by shipping cannabis "back home".

If the dispensaries would pay more then they would not need to buy product, and resale it out of State.

This really is no secret. Why is it not talked about?

Work as a budtender, make $11 per hour, work 35 hours per week, and try to live in Denver. Ok.....

The wages are dictating the amount of product shipped out of State.

Do law makers, news reporters, whistle blowers not get on instagram? It is full of people in other states "showing off" their "legal" dispensary flowers, concentrates, edibles, etc... and they will even show the State license numbers on the packaging.

It's fucking everywhere on social media!!!

Last time I checked the "underground" growers didn't have license numbers on their fancy packaging.

truck full of kegs each year i've been....
but best part is? noone seems really DRUNK, everyone is blatantly high off their asses - but noone is acting drunk loud violent ime.
Well any event attended by enough males or at least working types needs at least 1 beer tent, there has to be someplace that draws the crowds away from the dab tables so that we can browse freely

Spent the day on the phone with banks and law offices, those dabs in the middle of nowhere are sounding more appealing about now.

imo BAT is also a good chance to make some $.... last year i watched a couple different vendors sell entirely out of all their inventory before the weekend was over....

EDIT: looks like the "cannabis organic labeling" bill is dead - another way big shops can shit on little boutique shops and growers

So I haven't ran any new shit in a while. I gotta say so far I am pretty impressed with this pheno of Casey Jones. This is 6 weeks into flower in a 20 gallon notill pot. there is actually another Casey Jones pheno in there, but this one pretty much took over the entire space. The other one is tiny.

I opened the tent to so could see the background for reference on size. She's a beast. At this point looks like she will go around 11 weeks.

Colorado lawmakers reject labeling marijuana as organic

Colorado lawmakers reject labeling marijuana as organic

DENVER (AP) — A Colorado proposal to certify organic marijuana has been rejected amid concerns the labels would imply pot is healthy.

The bill rejected in a legislative committee Tuesday would have created a first-of-its-kind label for marijuana that had been produced without pesticides.

The proposal failed 4-3 in a Senate committee. Some lawmakers said the labels could wrongly imply that marijuana is harmless.

"It will mislead people to thinking marijuana doesn't have any health effects, that it's OK," said Sen. Rollie Health, D-Boulder. "It kind of puts a stamp of approval on it."

The sponsor of the measure scoffed at the suggestion.

"Does that label mean there are no health effects? That's it's healthy, it's wholesome?" asked Sen. Pat Steadman, D-Denver. "I don't think anyone is going to be under any false illusions."

Other lawmakers worried that the U.S. Department of Agriculture would penalize state agriculture regulators for labeling pot as organic. The bill called for state regulators to come up with the exact rules for getting organic labels.

Colorado would have been the first state to regulate organic labels in its pot industry. Consumer confusion over organic marijuana peaked in Colorado last year, when Denver health authorities seized thousands of marijuana plants from growers suspected of using off-limits chemicals on their plants.

Most of the plants were ultimately released, but some were sold with names that suggested the products were natural or organic.

^u shd hit him up. Iv been curious wt they might charge for a simple table to vend from ones campsite..
im sure if u brought afew trays of clones they would find happy homes.

Iv thought of putting together a dozen HMK rosin presses to offer to small time grower/smokers.
Sure there will b all kinds of fun stuff going around.
After wt happend w the "Colorado Cup" I wd b a little concerned by the potential for undercovers tho...
It's never really been an issue that I know of, other than one year they shut the whole thing dwn. But I wd worry about peeps moving flowers/wax, eatables, psychedelics exc..
I will b giving away freely any extra psiliosybe cyanescens I bring along for that reason. Nom nom!..

The BAT really is the best party going!
Truly an insiders gathering, fantastic comunity feeling and amazing people!
Plus the contests are a spectacle of pot passion. Competing is like a celebrity experiance and should b experienced and/or witnessed by everyone who loves to puff.

It wd b amazing if we could put together an icmag team roster for the relay and team hooka competitions.....

There's fun to b had in nonsmoking comps too. Like best Bong, best campsite, and my favorite the BIGGEST BUD @the BAT!
I'm planing some upcoming gardens for growing some "big buds" to bring along also.
Iv taken home the first two trophies for biggest bud at the BAT. And I think a third wd really fill out the case....

Details are still to come but I truly hope to see you all there.
Iv got a feeling this year is going to b special.

Until then,
Big ups respect and happy growing.

I guess you need an invite???

Thank-you guys,,, I have to be in OR by 9am the 18th...I am done for the year I think...
