new 2 growing, what is LST/SCROG?

I found out that without a light mover, my crop will suffer and have popcorn buds, unless i do a LST/SCROG method

Anyone have detailed guides on how to lst/scrog so my plants form an even canopy and get the proper amount of light?

What exactly is LST / SCROG? What is the procedure to make a nice canopy of flowers that absorb the light correctly? This is a response to this thread here also:

I know you dont want your plants growing straight up but i want to tame them so that they are the equivalent of a 3 footer, but just a flat & fat hedge, you know what i mean? Any detailed guides, pictures, information, techniques for a first time grower to absorb and learn from would be appreciated. im guessing this technique takes an otherwise tall lanky plant and makes it kind of like jewish candles, right?

When I know my plants are nicely rooted, I top my plants at 6-8" each. I like to have 8 or 9 tops at 12" when I put the screens on. I put my screen on when my girls are at about 12" and the screen height is about 9". I give them a day or two to recuperate, and then I go 12/12. At day 3 to 5 of 12/12 I...

what exactly does he mean by 'top' like cut the plant??i don't get it

Exactly...topping is pruning/cutting the main growth tip off, this cuases the plant to start branching out and filling out.

Someone should add all the acronyms and abbreviations to the glossary thread. Would really help us nibs out a lot. Just figured out what scrog is when I hear someone say they're switching from scrog to sog and no idea what they're talking about.

lol Tyler, you will pick it up as you read more, I did....

I never understood 'topping' until now though, it seems so barbaric. Suppose it keeps em short n bushy though.

Ok, still doesn't help much tho. What's the sea? Tied down using water? lol. A scrog using something besides a screen?

It's like a pc nerd forum sometimes, only with different acronyms.

"I have 2x400w hps + 2x23w cfl's, scrog'd in DWC using R/O ph'd @ 5.8 and 600 ppm's on the nutes."

WTFLOL? Taken me this long just to be able to make up a sentence like that. Baby steps...

its like a flood of plants you harvest the whole garden and have clones or seed plants ready to take thier place in flower the flower department runs 12/12 365 days a year. you could stagger the harvest say ya have 20 plants in flower but ya placed only 5 in at a time and spaced them out 2wks apart, now you'll harvest every 2wks 5 plants if you have a mother plant to take clones from and figure out that system you'll never shut down the flower erea. you'll harvest 5 plants and have 5 more ready to take the empty space so on so forth.

sea of green is when you fill your room wth clones that are just rooted its about cramming 50 single tops in one area instead of 10 plants..hope this helps
