New 10.4k Watt Grow Space

Hello Everybody,

I'd like to share a set up that was recently put into place. It's for a legal MMJ grow operation in NoCal.

It includes:

- About 600 square feet of space;
- Two rooms, one with four 600w lights for veg and the other with eight 1000w lights for flower;
- A processing room;
- Serious ventilation consisting of a filtered intake fan and two exhaust fans (one in each room), air cooled hoods in the flower room, and one scrubber;
- A 4 ton AC system that feeds cool air into both rooms;
- Six tables holding two 4x4 trays, with two tables for each run (two tables in veg, four in flower);
- Three 110 gal reservoirs;
- All tables and reservoirs on wheels;
- Space designed for SCRoG.

The idea here is to do perpetual grows, with harvest every 4-5 weeks.

Here is perhaps the most useful part of this room design for ventilation. All four of the top switches you see are variable (ignore the other regular switches). The one on the left controls a fan that brings fresh air into the building and puts it into a room adjacent to the flower room. The middle switch of the three together on the right controls the can fan inside the flower room. This fan pulls the filtered air from the adjacent room and places it into the corner directly opposite to the exhaust fan in the room. The switch on the left controls the 10" exhaust fan, with carbon filter, in the flower room, and the switch on the right controls the 8" exhaust fan, also carbon filtered, in the veg room. All of these switches can be turned off, or put on a timer, using the plug coming out of the wall and plugged into the socket there. (My electrician said this the most funky thing he has ever done, but he admitted it's sound, and it works fantastic!)

This set up allows complete variable control of all the ventilation fans.

Are you confident you have sufficient circulation?

Boobs: Do you mean ventilation? If so, yes. All four fans are basically on all the time, moving about 1800cfm through the rooms. Additionally, the 4 ton AC is set up to run the fan continually for circulation of air, with a temp sensor in the intake duct and a thermostat controlling the when cool air is turned on.

The system has been running perfect temps and rH for weeks now.

Circulation... as in wall fans? I see one... looks like a clean build... should pump out the dank.

SecondAttempt: Yes, there's plenty of wall fans and a couple of stand fans. The girls get constant movement in there.

In my earlier tent grows I learned the hard way how important ventilation (and circulation) is. So when I designed for this space these got major attention. That's how I ended up with all the variable switches and the plug for all; to be able to have maximum control over the ventilation system.

Thanks for the photos! I assumed thats what those were, but wanted to double check. What kind of ac unit did ya get if ya dont mind me askin? Are you utilizing a lung room for the AC?

The AC is a Thermo Zone 13 seer, 4-ton split unit. And, yes, there is a lung room where the air from outside goes before it is filtered and introduced to the grow space.

What are the vents on the side of the wall?

The vents in the side wall (see about the wall below), are there to allow air to move between the rooms a little more. They are probably not needed, and here's why:

The wall between the rooms only comes down four feet from the ceiling. Below that there's two sheets of Panda Film that are attached like shower curtains on each side, so that they can be removed and thus making the rooms into something like a great room. This facilitates work, clean up, and moving grows between the rooms.

The AC is so powerful that it pushes the cool air all the way to the floor. When you stand under it you feel a nice cool blast of air.

First Run on This System

Been too busy with everything to put together a grow journal, but this is what can be done with a system like this. These photos are of Soma Lavender at the end of week 4 of flower. This is a 64 sqft canopy, with a rough count of 282 colas, ranging in size from 4 to 8 inches.
