Never seen this problem...

Hello brothers and sisters around the world =)

havent been here for a while...but i got some strange looking problem on plants, that i havent seen yet...ever...and dont think theres a better place for help/advice but here...

so here is the story...

i think the problem is/was PH going too high...because there was alot of rain this year, and few heavy storms/rainshowers that i believe raised ph suddenly...and once i was in a rush and had no vinegar to lower/adjust ph, so i just turned irrigation(drop by drop) at standard ph 7.5, thinking its no biggie for one watering (acctually i know its not in normal conditions, when there is not so much rain to help me screw it =)...problem escalated basically overnight, after one of these heavy rains (i know rain ph can vary alot, been meassuring from 6-8 usually)...checked ph of top part of soil, showed very high ph - 6.5 going in, 8 going out...so i assume it was more then 8, at least 8.5...

as they are autoflowering with short flowering, and already in flowering, i didnt want to do slow lowering of ph, but wasnt very harsh on them, although i know they can take very hard ph drops...so as soon as i got 2 dry days, to let the soil dry up, i watered with alot of ph 5...tomorrow test with 6.5 showed 6.8, so its was better...it seemed that the problem slowed its progress...then another bad rain, and then i water with ph 5.5, and yesterday tests showed 6.4/6.5 from ph 6.5 water going in...but from yesterday till today i saw problem escalating again...i assumed it is just lag, until they stabilize...because one plant that i tried to hit with very low ph (to test this strains capacity and reaction to sudden ph change) didnt show any noticable escalation of problem...

oh yeah, and description of problem itself...it starts as very pale spotting first on lower leafs, but very fast, on some maybe even simultaneously, on higher leafs too...then usually edges of these pale/yellow spots start to form necrosis, and then the entire spot fills with necrosis...

anyone recognize this? could this be anything but ph? i have alot of experience both indoors and outdoors with all kind of setups, and have seen all kinds of problems, but nothing like this...

i did screw ph few times in my life, but never saw anything like this...usually just showing normal deficiencies and smaller yield...

i found this:
http://ww2.****/spots-on-leaves/
but im not shure theres a salt build up, because the soil is very light propagation soil and i was very light with feeding...

SOIL:

How long has this problem been going on?
approx. 10 days

What STRAIN are you growing?
White Widow Autoflowering (by Pyramid seeds)

What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
seed

What is the age of your plants?
35 days

How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
20 days

Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant?
yes, same, just small cups, then transplanted outdoors...

How Tall are the plants?
30cm to 1m

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
flowering for approx. 15 days

What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
christmas tree

What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
one plant per hole, approx. 13-14 liters...but they are free to grow into surrouding soil...

What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
Klassman Potgrond H (very light propagation soil), no perlite or vermiculite

What brand Nutrient's are you using?
Hesi

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water?
1-2 liter of water per watering per plant, depends how much and how often on weather conditions of course, and based on what i see they need...i raise EC based on their stage, going full on only in high flowering stage...

How often are you feeding?
depends on weather - amount of sun...not much...did 2 very easy foliar feedings at begining of flowering, because there was much rain and i got no chance to water, because i didnt want to overwater, and because i suspected the ph problem, and didnt want to add nutes to bad ph soil of course...

If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
after maybe a week...

What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
first adjust ph with vinegar
then veg/bloom
then root complex/zym/supervit/whatever

What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
depents on plant stage, but i always tend to better keep it lower, but a bit more frequent feed...

What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
explained above

How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS?
depends

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?
very accurate ph meter

How often are you watering?
depends on weather conditions

When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding?
depends

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?
no

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
well

If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?(Only if you have a tds pen)
380 (from well)

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?
just classic lower criple branches removed, and popcorn...

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when?
yes, DipelPro BTK, once, but after the problem started to appear...been using it for a long time, never had a problem with it...

Are plant's infected with pest's?
no

looks to me like a mold problem or you over did it with a foliar feeding....or foliar fed in direct sunlight...

you do have some bugs chomping on them too.
in some of the pics you can see those white squiggly lines on your plants leaves. That is from thrips and or gnats.

do to the irregular spots on the leaf I would say it's not a nutrient deficiency or ph. IMO... if it were a deficiency it would have some type of pattern to it.

good luck!

thanks alot! ;)

thought of fungus or some virus like tobacco mosaic, but high ph led me to believe that its ph...

it looks like leaf spot by the research and pics i could find online...anyone have any experience fighting it?

i sprayed with sodium bicarbonate today as a first step, until i figure something else...

im always for some biological OMRI stuff first...i used actinovate in past to fight powdery mildew, and it worked very nice...its supposed to work for leaf spot to as the label says, and i still have it left from last year, but the exp. date is few months past...

then theres this CEASE from BioWorks with some antifungal bacteria that is supposedly good...or serenade?

or some last resort like eagle 20?

it scares me, because i have new grow 50 meters from this one, just 2 weeks old babies...and i cant let them get infected too...

when did the problem start? after the rains? or after the spraying..
either way, dont be doing any more drastic ph drops like that, you are stressing them even more now! you are in soil, it regulates ph itself, to a certain extent.. depending on the elements in the soil of course.
I too think it could be fungus possibly illness, i would spray with aspirin water tomorrow, they should react positive to that and be easier to fix the problem.
anyway you need more calcium in your soil! top dress with earth worm castings and dolomite lime 3:1 a good hand full around each plant.. adding another handfull a week later... water with your regular nutrients, in soil you would rather want to feed higher if the soil has a low CEC.. they look like they could do with a boost anyhow..
last thing that i noticed is put some , metal pan scrubbers around the bass of each plant.. you can untangle them a bit, cut it up so you can put it around the base.. leaving a 5-10cm gap to the base.. this will deter snails and whatnot

Brew some essence its fungi assasin. Highly effective against leaf spot fungus and also bud rot assasin. Research plant magic essence its very popular in uk and outdoors growers there highly recomended this product After one spray you will forget if leaf spot is problem. I always have bud rot problems because rh is conatantly 80% . I haved botrythis in the past even in small buds This time I decide to drench buds with essence and no sign of bud rot. I sprayed once every two weeks. But essence is really effective agains leaf spot.
