Nepal Jam seedling problems

Hi guys first time posting but I have been lurking here for some years. I recently purchased Nepal Jam, Congo, Malawi and Zamaldelica. I've never grown and honestly I was very excited to grow however my grow cab isn't the best environment right now.

I decided to plant a Nepal Jam seedling it's a short flowering, small and manageable plant. I paid for five and received six seeds. The two least viable seeds were chosen, both were very small and one had a very oblong shape. They were germinated using the paper towel method. After three days the oblong seed #1 was added to soil the other seed #2 had a small root and was added to the same size container with the same soil on the 5th Feb.

Seedling #1 sprouted first followed a day later by seedling #2. Since then seedling #2 had significantly slower growth and the leaves have been deformed with grey/white spots.

I suspect there is something wrong with the roots of the seedling #2. At this time I won't be able to give any environmental info as I have no way to measure humidity/ph etc.

Any suggestions wud be welcomed.

Hi :)
What soil are you using and why it looks so dry?

Looks to me like a bit of a PH problem, PH can make plants do every type of funky shit possible. Nothing to panic about friend, nature is strong. I would suggest keeping them slightly wetter, unless when you pick the plant up it is heavy. Start doing that per day also, learning how heavy the pot is with water, and how light it is when dry. I generally hand feed with a water wand and submersible pump, but since you are smaller plants thats not best option yet.

Are you using tap water? Does your tap have high amounts of calcium or iron in it per chance? My water i need to filter with reverse osmosis so I will end up needing to re-ad cal/mag to it. Some folks tap water has chlorine in it, city water, I am on a well in the mountains so I dont need to deal with that. If you think you have chlorine in your water a good way to deal with it is fill a 10 gallon bucket up and throw an airstone in it, let the chlorine bubble out for 24 hours.

Generally speakingk your plants are fine, only 1 looks less than ideal and thats just a PH issue, it will work itself out over time or just get a bit worse than work itself out. Plants are very hard to kill. I suggest reading greg greens cannabis grow bible, and check out the website growweedeasy .com .

Give them water, but not overwater them. Overwatering can cause issues like PH, just all over the board chaos, same with underwatering. Most times I see folks with P or K issues and its been underwatered weeks on end.

Ask if you got questions, cannabis gives you what you give it, so if you try to grow with no knowledge and put minimal $$ into it, you will get just that back. Spend some time and enjoy the ride.

Some generic potting soil right now. The soil is dry because I thought it was an overwatering issue. The smaller plant especially since I may have compressed the soil too much. Soil options are limited where in from.

Thanks for the advice.
I just watered them tonight. I water them with spring water. A ph meter is next on my list. Followed by Fox Farm notes, then some bigger pots. Any recommendations for pot size my space is 16×25×33" high.

Repot seedling again without compressing soil(assuming soil is still dry)
Watering is adequate when it starts showing at bottom of pot plate
Use bottled water for a week to revitalise growth(no nutrients)

Welcome Batman868 :)

Thanks for choosing ACE Seeds genetics for your first grow, much appreciated.
Did you buy the standard (regular) or the feminized versions ?

Nepal Jam is a good choice for beginners, as you said, it's very easy to grow, manageable and fast flowering. I wouldn't worry much with the slightly wrinkled growth in your babies, highly inbred lines like Nepal Jam can produce slightly crinckled seedlings, but they will grow perfectly fine when they start to develop a bit more.

I always recommend to new growers to invest in a digital ec and ph meter and in a supply of high quality water (osmosis filter), because understanding the ph and ec in your waterings, feedings and growing media and the quality of the water you are using is the start to sucess in cultivation.

Please, keep us updated with your progresses and we will try to help you in case of any doubt. Best wishes!

Thanks for the reply dubi, it's an honor to finally grow your generics, even as a seedling the smell is totally exotic to me. I purchased regular seeds from seedsman.

I will definitely get at least a ph monitor and get back to you with an update.
