Neem oil enough against pests?

F

I found holes in a few leaves on one of my plants today. :( :shark:
Turned the leaf around and spotted a small, green worm.
I think it's the one that has been eating the leaves but I'm not sure.
Now I was wondering if it's any good if I spray the leaves with Neem oil or do I need something else to stop these insects?

thanks guys for the help.

neem is good for general pest preventative but you need bt spray for catepillars or they will definately ruin your crop. You will find them inside your buds at harvest and they will cause mold. Bt spray is natural bacteria that kills the cats but is safe to use up to a couple weeks into flower - every week!

Spinosad is also another great pest preventive and its safe to use in flower as well. I like captain Jack's dead bug, it's good stuff. Sometimes I mix bt and spin with a little clear dish soap to help it stick, that's my go to spray if I'm having issues during flower.

I am assuming that since this is in the outdoor section that his plants are outdoors.

That being said, Spinosad will kill the fuck out of bees. Use it with much caution.

I just use neem for the thrips and and pick off anything I don't like the looks of. Outdoors you have to expect some natural predation. There is actually a theory that says that a plant will generate more terpenes in the face of that kind of predation and it's one of the reasons that outdoor pot is sometimes tastier / more fragrant.

You can go crazy trying to get picture perfect plants unnecessarily.

Only when wet...when it drys its perfectly safe for bees. Spray early a.m before honey bees are out and about and your good to go.

Do honeybees even visit female marijuana plants? Why would they? There's no nectar.

I honestly don't know.

And there are many more studies that prove that dried spin does not harm honey bee adults there for not harming honey bee hives....dried spinisad won't harm bee populations when used properly.

For every study there is an opposite study. We just have to choose the one's we can live with. :)

There are indeed studies that show bees die from spinosad once dried.

Use it at dusk, or right after dark to be safe.

Juvenile bees and larva yes.....but bees at that stage do not usually leave the hive....so you would literally have to spray the hive directly with spinosad in which case you would deliberately trying to kill them.

Alright bee killer. :)

I have seen it first hand on my old property in the woods.

No study needed.

The big organic heads do not ever suggest to spray spinosad outdoors.

plenty of bees all over my yard and I spray weekly with spin. Like I said when used PROPERLY you won't harm bees.

Spinosad is too strong to be a regular part of IPM. It wipes out too much broadly and I truly believe should be left until dire times. That said I cannot imagine a situation where bees are all over your cannabis crop rolling in your spinosad sprayed leaves. I think the concern is moot unless you're overspraying forage plants they use.

I got something here don't remember the name it is organic and not so toxic. and yea i have seen bees in the greenhouse so I don't want to use something to hurt them at all. they fly to the plants and leave after awhile :peacock:
