do yourself a favor and go galaxy. its pushed by the largest dealer in the industry. my buddies have 600's and love them. no problem to date. ive heard alot about the other brands(mostly negative shit).

I have a 1000 watt dimmable ballast by Quantum hort, I love it. You can dim it to 750 or 500 watts.

ventura- how long have you had your eballast?
I've only had it a couple of months, it works great so far. I love being able to turn the light (halide) down to 500 watts so its not so hard on my eyes, and the plants like less light also when they are just rooting in. Here is where I bought the ballast:

That quantum hort ballast is so gangster shitttt... I got a purple lumatek 600 that is quite nice... I even dropped it a few inches once and it works fine.

hi, wanted to bump this thread cuz i am thinking of getting the quantum dimmable ballast to help me deal with the low ceilings in my new spot--i like the idea of dimming them if the plants grow too tall, which i am always at risk of. Ventura, are you still loving your Quantum? Any issues or recommendations after a half year of use? thanks.

At my old store, we found Galaxy and Lumatek to be the most reliable. Future-Bright were probably the worst we ever stocked, high failure rate.
AF runs a shop and has sold approx 100 Lumatek 600,s in past year and never had a bad one come back...good percentages...i use em and they are good .....the warranty of the new electronic ballasts are great also...break one and take it back to the shop and you get a new one off the shelf...(most shops anyway)...
