Colorado's great, but where in CO? Mountains, plains, front range, west, nah, no one lives west of the mountains in CO do they?

This is an example of my problem. Prime, close trimmed, rock hard, hand picked, fully cured bud that stinks up the room and I'm sitting on it. Had a better season than expected. It'll move in time, but it sure would be nice to have a relatively quick, safe and professionally gratifying way of doing business. Well, the latter may be too much to ask for. lol

https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=27576

Take a look through this album. It's some of the oddball seeds I grew out this season. At least in my current environment, I can do this like clockwork with pretty much any non-oddball genetics. I'm in a place where I can't even smoke a bowl in peace. This just isn't right.

Thanks again for all the helpful comments.

Give me a pm when you are here Simon.

Thanks. This may be happening in a few months. If folks are more comfortable with PMs, I'd love to ask some CO questions. Relatively basic stuff relating to the area. Those familiar with my curing thread know that I'm a pragmatic kinda guy and this may happening kinda fast. I have to research everything from the schools to cost of living/housing to employment opportunities for my wife. Nothing beats talking to someone already there.

New Jersey is MMJ now.
Just saying.

A frighting concept on so many levels. lol!

We really wouldn't mind staying on the east cost. There is no defined distribution model, which is a part of the problem now.

I called that show 'Throwing up Gotti' and/or 'Growing up Shoddy' and never watched it, the kinda shit that makes me embarrassed that they're Italian, thank god they were originally Brooklynites, my clan's from Arthur Ave in The Bronx.......

Rhode Island's pretty nice & you can be caregiver for up to 5 patients, you can also grow for yourself as a patient.

Why, do Mass, Conn, NY allow interstate cannabis trafficking? Maine's butt-ass cold as well.

Hey Simon, if you were a really good cultivator I wouldn't fear a med state. Sell excess to dispensaries. If you're growing true top shelf there's always money imho. That is, if you're looking to supplement income, not necessarily make cultivating your only line of work.

It better be absolutely incredible if you want any money in CO.
Prices are much higher in CA, especially for top shelf. You will not see $75 1/8ths of Mars Kush here.

There is a new requirement here that dispensaries must grow 70% of their weed.

Most dispensaries sell mediocre to shitty weed here and are happy with it.

Top shelf weed goes for about $25-$40 an 1/8th in dispensaries in CO.

:biglaugh: Just me and mah kittens!!

I too would suggest Colorado- it really is a fantastic place to live:
It's beautiful; low humidity- (coming from VA, low humidity is a huge+), summers here are magnificent; there's tons of stuff to do outdoors year-round and tons of places to go; lots of open-minded people, (although there are lots of conservative-types in both GJ and CO Spgs. where the dispensary situation is pretty bad- they shut them down in GJ); tons of open space; relatively low cost of living, plus a fantastic music scene and venues...

I love the sense of community, in places like Boulder and Nederland, but Boulder is teeming with people, (college kids), and Nederland gets over run with out of town-ers in the summer; but I think both would be nearly ideal places to raise kids, (were I the "breeding" type.) However, if you prefer to "keep to yourself" a bit, I'd recommend somewhere in the mountains- lot of space and people who also value privacy.

But I strongly suggest you make the move, if you are able; you really can't underestimate 'peace of mind' and how much it improves your quality of life...It has improved my health, not to mention my sanity!!

Do beware though, there is quite a bit of xenophobia towards new residents, (ie: "flat landers"), particularly towards Texans and those moving here to get into the canna-industry. ["Colorado Native" is a bumper sticker you'll often see; luckily for me I was born here, so I'm just returning "home", lol...You'll start to recognize the 'flat-landers' by how 'they' drive through the mountains: super slow through the bends, (under the speed limit slow), often failing to gain enough momentum before steep grades and forgetting to stay in the right lane, unless passing.]

If you are a skilled grower, I'm sure you will eventually gain some respect, but some people get territorial and take umbrage towards many of the "canna-transplants", (especially in smaller towns/villages; though that is the case in almost any small town.) Just take care to notice who's toes you could be stepping on.

And if you do decide upon CO, don't forget to bring/get your Subaru!! :D
Good luck, Simon!
I hope you and your family find the peace of mind and happy home you are looking for!! :)

Edit: Reply to post 32-
For those of us growing only a few plants and staying within the guidelines, I don't feel it's putting yourself on a "hit list"; since there are so many of us, too many to get in one swoop, and there are far bigger targets than a lowly personal med grower, (of course the risk grows exponentially with the number of plants one tends.) There would be enough time to realize the "shit is going down" before they came for the 'peons'; and by then, I would guess that the public outrage would have grown to such proportions that the pressure would curtail any yet unfinished activity of the hypothetical "crack down". Things have changed a lot in the past decade, in nearly every poll I've seen in the past year or two, the majority have supported cannabis legalization...I've been wrong before, but I really think we've [nearly] reached "critical mass" and that it won't be too much longer before we've seen the last arrest for cannabis possession and cultivation.

i would think getting the feck out of the freeer-est country in the world(SORRY....in the HISTORY of the world) would be about the smartest thing you could do. provided you dont end up someplace immediately worse. like iran. or syria. greece would actually be great.

locate benign regions of mexico, out of the corridors and fed/gov/cartel control.

maritimes provs would be a good idea. canookian that is.

placing your move on an "MMJ-friendly state".....? getting your name on the round-up list if its not already there is an idea i wouldnt advocate.

busts/raids in cali....colo....montana......in case y'all havent noticed, its not what it appears to be. wait till obombya gets re-(S)elected and see how he really feels about this.

sounds like you need a trustworthy person to move your weight for you. Colorado may be good to grow and smoke in but you can only accept donations from your patients. Selling to dispensaries isn't legit.

this is nothing but fear mongering bullshit; theres no list of people waiting to be picked up and hauled off to jail...

a family member of mine was one of the first people in the state to ever get a red card; and it was a big decision at the time but now we look back on it and we are proud to be a part of what has happened in this state over the past decade... peoples attitudes have changed; for the better in a large way...

^i am torn about what o bummer will do to the med states? He has been bad so far, but he smoked in the past, which meas he possibly would again after he retires from politics in 1 or 5 years. He may still legalize before he leaves as a surprise.......

That's kinda what this comes down do, and I just don't know if I'm comfortable with that anymore. Over time I've become a better grower pulling bigger yields, and now I'm at a point where I have to decide if I want to deal with the criminal element. And, no, I don't! I'm a grower and a pothead. I'm a father, a husband, a neighbor and a friend. I'm not a fucking criminal.

Colorado may be good to grow and smoke in but you can only accept donations from your patients. Selling to dispensaries isn't legit.
Having spent the last couple of days looking into this, I'm afraid you may be right.

What about Michigan?

The problem is if you move to colorado, oregon ,or cali then you will be in a flooded market. Many people cant even find buyers period, unless they cut prices to beat there competators and that can get very hard. MMJ is still at the stage of having to make your own network from scratch. A good connection is better than a large investor in the mmj world. If you have none to start with it is almost impossible to succeed.

In mmj you are always dealing with the "criminal element" because the federal government views us as criminals even though all of our patients view us medicine providers.

however California is still sounding like your best bet because you can get a license and sell to dispensaries . if you can grow the mad dank you will be fine. Concentrate on quality not quantity and your product will always be in demand.

I like Houston. We can always use a good grower. A huge op was popped this morning and everyone is already home again. It could be worse...
