harvest anyway. As the plant dies they will make their exodus. You could also use a vacuume to get some of them as well.

i would definitely go with the vaccum idea,i said that,if that were to happen to me, its what i would do.

i had mites around chop time and decided to see if spraying with neem would help, and sure enough, that main cola had some serious bud rot!!! don't chance it, the most you may lose is a few pistils here and there, but i would definitely vacuum and wipe with a dry clothe as i went. maybe some thing with a tube you could hold and be careful /precise with as opposed to a handheld vac or say a car vac

get rid of the big leaves first so the they dont have anyplace to hide and them hit 'em hard!!! with the vortex of doom!!!

Yes use the vortex of doom!!! I would also declare jihad on them as well. Now I bomb the ****ers with pyrethrem before the start of every grow just to make sure they know Im serious. They are after me I tell ya

it depends how much they are worth to you, i have a fogger that you can pck up for 400 dollars. Load it with neem oil and water and it will 100% cover a room full of 10 plant s in about 3 - 4 mins with micro particles of the neem mix. 100% effective in my experience and amazing to see how well it works, real professional

I'd personally go with the vacuum idea. Although i'm by far a novice, i've read alot of people using that approach. So much so that I have already preplanned in case something does happen.

if you look in the background...

There hasn't been anything crawling in my room for quite some time.

(And yes this was also a shameless reason to post my first female plant.)

After harvesting them I would put the buds in a jar with some sticky traps near the buds but do not allow them to be touched and put one of the leaves on the sticky trap so the bugs will be near the trap and you will get most of the bugs off the buds

also if you hang your plant upside down to dry, they usualy always tend to climb UPWARDS to the top.. i had an investation on 60 plants one time.. hung them all upside and saw the tops of the stems covered in the mites. mostly just chopped the stems off and took my plants but i also froze some of them with compressed air upside down lol..

That's exactly the way! :)

Spider mites always climb up to the 'top', so if you hang them upside down, the mites will 'ball' up on the tops.

Then just hold a box underneath and chop at the stem underneath the mites and voilà - no mites on the buds!

I would also recommend trimming the leaves off straight away as well, as there may be eggs stuck on the leaves.

Peace

Your refrigerator is your friend. It's a vacuum and a very dry environment and it's cold enough to kill the mites (but not their eggs) without freezing the fresh bud and the subsequent mushy rot that follows trying to freeze still moist bud. Put your harvest in the fridge for a couple of days after a nice hang and then simply shake out the dead critters. and just my 2 cents ... I wouldn't spray anything on a plant in the last 3rd - end of flowering let alone some Insecticide ... whether it be Organic or not.

My plants are flowering at 7 weeks and found out I got some spidermites, first time ever. They're mostly on one plant, two don't seem to have many. My grow space is well ventilated, dry and cool. I wonder, how bad the situation will be if I flower at least one week more? Now there's mites and eggs on leaves, will they go for the buds?

macmiddle - I am interested in the use of foggers for mite control. Do you mix your neem at the same strength as you would for a regular sprayer? Do you have any other recommendations for the application, like time of day? How large of a room do you cover in 3-4 minutes?

Thanks for your help.

Spidermites/Neem oil

Spidermites/Neem oil

:joint: I would like to suggest an organica substance called Neem Oil, it comes from the Neem tree in Indiana and it is perfectly safe and it will protect the plant from mites and milddew and mold. mix 1 teaspoon per 32 oz spray bottle and spray from top to bottle. The oli will disapate and dry during the curing and drying of the buds. :jump:

that fogging machine sounds great, but would that not leave Neem all over the growroom, including the lights, fans, floors, etc.?

Whatever you do, don't spray them with anything but water at this stage!! Big brother there is no way your neem residue is dissapating completey from the nugs, oil....hmmm
let's think about that one...
