Need suggestions to block heat from south facing windows

So my current setup has windows like these.

They face towards the south and get direct sunlight.

I have put on a black film on them currently to block the light and hopefully heat.

Looking for more suggestions on how I can block the heat from the windows.

I do have Split AC in the room, just want to insulate against the heat from these windows

Use some reflective mylar film between the windows black film. Black film will absorb and radiate heat. Those emergency mylar blankets are cheap.

Ahh!

That makes sense!

I did read that the black film would make it hotter.

So for the reflective mylar film, the shiny side will face inside right?
Since the glue would be on the other side

Shiny side to the light. You could put some bubble wrap insulation and make a sandwich with another layer of the shiny facing in.

Anything else that I can use?

I was thinking of putting up some rigid foam sheets in the windows but didn't know how effective it would be.

The foam with foil facing is also reflective. You can use quilts or there are heavy window curtains made for insulating too.

That reflective film would be the #1 item to get first.

Get rid of the black plastic and use some Astrofoil, it is bubblewrap with foil on both sides, it will block both light and heat, I used it in my loungeroom on a North facing window (Southern Hemisphere) and it reduced the heat a lot.
