Need Strainguide suggestions

Hi all,

Most of you should know by now that OG is no more and never will be again. Saddly, the strainguide also disappeared off the face of the earth along with OG.

If a new strainguide was created and perhaps even more comprehensive, if that's even possible...how would you rate a strain report. What information, other than what's on this list, would you want to read up on?

well i think we need to add an actual smoke report section along with an actual strainguide similar to og.. smoke report cause.. sometimes the ratings setups really just suck.. cant get a point across

That site is definetly something to reffer to and has great information, however I am looking for something more detailed and DB driven.

The intent here is actually to have a non-proprietary online ressource available to everyone on the planet rather than owed by a single source. Otherwise, we risk ending up in the same boat as we are now in. What I am proposing is a site that would be hosted somewhere offshores, with information presented in a similar fashion to what OG had. This site as well as it's db records could be reffrenced and linked to by any site. This could possibly allow for a consistent information flow. If everyone was linking to the same information that is.

Bassically, I think the information that will initially be needed is straight from the breeders. We need to present each strain as the breeder intended it to be grown out so that later reports can be tested against that information.

Perhaps strainguide is not an appropriate word, as I am after an encyclopedia type information databse on each strain. Sort like an online strain dictionary I suppose.

We would need to cover all the land race strains, then most popular breeder strains, but for now....I need to nail down what information we are after. Then information gathering can be accomplished.

Knowing what information is needed will easily allow someone to plan out a schema to capture that information. This is a very realistic project that anyone could accomplish IMO.

Hope this idea isn't taken as a something to compete with ICMAG. I love this site and love the idea of it having it's own strainguide.

it still in our galaxy (most of reports and thumbnails are on my HDD)

THE BEST strain guide around at the moment is the strainguide of the spanish site cannabis cafe - its very very complete - please check it out and see if ya all can learn something from it. the lay out of this site is reallly nice and clean.

its called the STRAIN BIBLE - its only in spanish - but since its one of the most spoken languages on earth - its worth mentioning. they got 75 seedbanks and 1141 strains listed :D

Thanks, that's a great link to some great info. Spanish isn't to hard to translate and MS Office 2003 tranlator helps quite a bit as well!!! I will definetly study the submital form for a strain report.

I realise the list is debateable and can be edited, trimmed down and formatted in many ways etc... However, we would like to encompase every aspect that would be pertinent information for someone wanting to grow out a perticular strain. Is there anything that is not on the list that you (the reader) thinks should be?

My friends site is now propagating, at www.weedbay.net

His online strain guide is user updatable and has spots for plenty of text and 3 pictures. (2 big pics and a thumbnail with flowing text). It's basicly been his labor of love for a whole week and the coding he's done to convert a file module into a strain guide is pretty cool and I think it will serve the scene well.

The links above are broken, if anyone has this please PM me and I will give you an email to send them to so they can be available online here they belong.

I'm pretty stoked about this new guide and after this dns propagates we can all start adding to and enjoying it.
