And here's my wild shot in the dark based on your previous posts and your lack of information provided in this thread. You're running multi-part gh flora series chem salts nutes and you're probably following the silly notion of an input starting pH of 5.8. possibly because of following that damned f'ked up misleading and totally wrong square bar chart style pH availability chart several people have been showing all over icmag arrrgh !

Your pH is drifting up too far past 6.0 and thus suffering a loss of P availability (precipitated out in the chem solution as well as unavailable to the plant), along with several of the micros which mostly go bye bye as pH goes upward of 6.4

phew - thanks for that!

yeah - and organic soil is the easiest and most forgiving of all imo

i was using the chart i posted to illustrate the benefit of using dolomite lime in soil, and then watering at pH6 - so the pH sweeps between 6 and 7 over a few hours and all the nutrients become available at their optimum pH as it happens.

cheers

so whats optimum ph in hydro 5.6?

always thought it should start from 5.7 and go to 6 then change it back down

all buffered nutes go to 5.8 automatically

i have read several places that with hydro it can be acceptable to start around 5.2 and let it rise to 6.0.. that way there is more of a "window" of nute availability.. rather than starting at 5.7 or 5.8 and having it hit the 6 range in a shorter time, and causing lock-outs/deficiencies.. any truth to this? i have tried it in my last 2 res changes, and have not noticed any negative effects.. not sure if its true, but it doesn;t seem to hurt the plants.. according to smokingshoguns chart it kinda makes sense as the ph adjusts from lower to higher, it allows some of the nutes to become more available as it rises, and some of the nutes availablility to drop as it rises....
