Thanks in advance for any help u r willing to offer.. Here is what I'm trying to do.. I've got a grow area of 5.5 ft x 8ft . I'm gonna use about 5 by 5 for a vert area . The rest will be used for clones and veg.. I'm going to use 600 hps for my vert and if I find that I need to make my donut smaller than 5 x 5 I will. I have a another 14 x 14 room that will be heated and cooled and air will be sucked outta there and into grow area.
So here are my questions.. Lets say I'm my donut around 25 ft2 will have 8 ft ceilings so 200 cubic ft.. I will use tent or walls with reflecting bubble wrap to seal the rest of the room from the flower area.. I will be veging under around 200 watts of various lamps that won't be on all the time.. Mostly a mother chamber with 60 to 80 watts and veg will be used for 2 weeks before transfer to bloom room.. What size air conditioner will I need in the 14 x 14 room to handle is? I plan to exhaust outside through carbon filter. Using around 400 cfm exhaust fan. I usually don't let plants get over 5 feet so I may lower the ceiling In the flower area to 5.5 to if that would help with air exchange?

First and foremost,I would do 2x 600w HPS vert bare bulbs (stacked) in the 5x5 flowering area.

Simple math my friend,50w per square foot minimum.

600/25 = 24w per square foot...that's no beuno.

1200/25 = 48w per square foot...not quite 50w per square foot but close enough and better than only 24w per square foot.

For Mothers/Veg/Clones I'd look into a 400w MH or some T5's.

Can't help ya with the a/c.

your right about the 5x5 needing more light.. not sure if this is how it should be figured but a donut is round so 3.14x2.5squared..19.63still not enough so a 4 foot donut would be perfect if it is acircle..12.56 ..
jnugg I may use 2 600s but if I do I plan on doing 2 4 foot donuts running flip.
I am just trying to throw enough numbers out there for some good ac people to give me a close number.. a 14x14is 196 ft and the 5.5x8 is 44 so I'm at 240 total area.. ionly using about 4 feet out it to flower .. but am exhausting around 400cfm but I plan on having a dimmer on the fan to dial it to a good speed to not over run the ac..
ANYONE? 8000 BTU ? 10000? I'm pretty sure the 10000 would be safe but I would love someone with some insite to chime in thanks

Wether or not you want to take my advice...DHF,Mr.D,Bobblehead,and all the other greats here in vertville will tell you the same thing...

2x 600w HPS's hung bare bulb vertical and stacked.

The bottom bulb should point up (socket on the bottom) and the top bulb should point down (socket on top).

You can do that fancy math but that only accounts for the outside if plant canopy...not the inside or backs of plants...

2x 600w HPS's or you'll be sorry.

I'm not arguieing. I have read lots I fully believe the 50watts common law.. Those guys are the gurus.. But all that aside let's just say ill be using 1 600 at a time weather it is vertical or horizontal.. Does anyone know what size the ac need to be to not be to much or to little..

Yeah I have read it I was just curious if by having the area (14x14 extra room)that I'm wanting to cool and heat threw any extra stuff into the equation.. I guess I should get one big enough for this room plus use the calculating ac formula to determine the grow area add them together..
