Need Help

I am going to make a grow tent, and i want to try screen of green. If anybody sees anything that i'm doing wrong or anything that could be done better, then let me know. I want to run a 600w hps in a tent that is 4x4 and 5 feet high. For the frame i'm planning on using pvc pipe. I was just going to tape black and white poly to the completed frame. I can't really think of how to make a good door to the tent, so if anyone has had experience please help. Also i wanted to run two 80 cfm intake fans, and 1 80 cfm for ventilation. Would this be enough to keep it cool? Here are links to the light i want and the fans i want. Let me know what you think.

Look at the grow diaries here, and see how other folks have made their doors. They have door zipper rigs available, but I have not used them. Good luck.

Hi csccsmoke,

Sounds like you have a nice plan so far! You want to exhaust the air in your space 2 to 3 times per minute. To determine your required cfm's take the cubic feet of your growspace (4x4x5=80). cfm = cubic feet per minute, so you would need to exhaust 160 to 240 cfm per minute. The three fans you are thinking about total those exact cfm's however one fan of higher quality may be a better option if your situation permits. For example a vortex/s&p/or any quality inline fan. These will allow you to run the fan at a lower load, and still achieve your desired cfm's if attached to a speed controller. There are many different ways to skin a cat though, its all about your situation and whats available to you. Keep in mind all cfm's aren't the same, if those fans are a true 80 cfm each they should be fine. More than likely those fans aren't worth your time imo.

If all you can go with are those fans, then you would want to use two for exhausting and one for intake, or look on the forums for other cheaper alternatives. I believe some are converting a stanley blower, as they are quite powerful.

As for a door, you can use a zipper door although they are not very large. If you have a bit of extra black and white poly cut a door size to your liking and then grab some heavy duty velcro. Line it up with a little overlap and your set.

and be careful not to let that exhausting hotter air get reintroduced into your growspace as the intake. it either needs to be cooled first, or exhausted completely and away from your box.

I would get a homebox and work from that, a lot less headaches. Zipper doors can be a pain. And don't skimp on the fan.

cscc,

those bathroom vent fans aren't what you should be looking at. check out some inline fans or squirrel cage fans. spend the extra few bucks and you can avoid future headaches. you are linking up to a carbon filter right?

Yes, i'll be venting through a carbon filter. I've decided to go with the stanley blower mod over in the DIY section. I'll keep it on one of the two lowest speeds. Unless of course some extra cash falls into my lap. Then i'll get a squirrel cage.
