Need help, yellow/reddish leaves

So many threads on yellowing leaves but didn't want to hijack anyone's thread. Posted in the sticky but no responses yet and it's getting worse. Flushed it pretty good 3 or 4 days ago. I just don't recognize this coloring in any of the pics in the sticky.

Has this reddish/brown mottling on most of them, and a lot of them turn just a pure yellow and eventually fall off which I suspect is normal somewhat. I'm right at about 6 weeks of 12/12 using cfl's (8 x 23w). The normal regimen had been Miracle Gro tomato 24-8-16. Picked up some PBP organic for my hydro and went ahead and gave it some of that this morning, 1/2 strength. Was about 4 days ago that I flushed.

As for my hydro I still don't even have a ph meter, so I realize the idiocy of even trying it. Hopefully will at least keep it alive until the 1st of the month. I'm suspecting the droopiness is from either the ph being too high or the medium staying too wet? Not really dying or anything but not growing much, either. The roots are doing pretty well tho, finally made it out the bottom of the net pot now.

Any way, not so much worried about the hydro, just looking for advice on my soil grow mainly, at least until I get a few supplies anyway. Anyone recognize that mottling at all? Thanks in advance.

at this point thye could be having all kinds of touble, like with all the flushing they could have been deprived of nutes. It looks to me like you started off with a PH problem not a nute problem despite using miricle grow(never use there ferts). Further reading your post it is deffatnly a ph problem. get you a cheap 5 dollar tester bro it isn't the best but it makes a world of difference

Well the soil one isn't getting worse, so that's good. I do have a ph kit, but honestly I can't tell squat from it. ph may be a little high, if I had to guess I'd say 7-7.5 or so. Looked a little low on N (again, from what I can tell) so the MG should perk it back up since it's pretty high in N.

My hydro perked right up after the 1st feeding tho. The PBP I had picked up was bloom, since my soil was already flowering and could only afford one bottle at the time. Gonna pick up a bottle of grow before I change out the res.

If my timestamps are right that's about 5 days growth. Lot of new growth at the nodes so that's good. Some growth is better than no growth, I guess. Once I get some grow and and a ph meter should take right off.

Miracle grow lacks calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. Is there dolomite lime in your soil mix? This would give you calcium and magnesium. You still would need 1/8 teaspoon epsom salts per gallon of water along with the mg plant food for sulfur.

If ph is low you can add dolomite lime to the pot surface at 1 1/5 teaspoon per gallon of mix and water in. Ph must be low!!!

Tip: At planting time you can add 3/4 teaspoon powdered gypsum per gallon of soil mix along with your lime for sulfur

If ph is okay or on the high side, you can add cal mag sulfur to the water. Add 1/8 teaspoon calcium nitrate and epsom salts per gallon of water along with it. Calcium chloride could be used instead of calcium nitrate. Its sold in bottles under names like tomatoe blossom end rot stopper. It will take %ca and net weight of the bottle to give you a rate of about 35ppm ca. Call around to garden centers for the calcium and epsom salts is at the drugstore.

How to test soil ph: After watering and ferting till runoff, wait 1 hour. Apply some distilled water to the pot surface till you get 1 ounce of runoff and not more. Catch on a saucer. Test ph. Ph in soil mixes with peatmoss, perlite, vermiculite, bark, etc... should be about 5.6 to 6.2

Adjust the ph of your fert water after adding everything to about 6 for both soil and soilless grows.

If you don't have a ph meter, get some ph test strips at the aquarium section of a petstore or brew your own beer wine stores. Range 4 to 7 would be okay.

I would be using 1/2 teaspoon mg plant food per gallon of water everytime. Be sure to get plenty of runoff out the bottom...

Getting a decent ph meter and ditching the miracle grow will work wonders. Then steer clear of Blackvelvets advice on substitutions. 'Tomato blossom end rot stopper' seems like it already has a specific use and growing marijuana isnt one of them, much like Blackvelvet.

I second the notion that blackvelvet is a dickhead who has never grown mj and will kill your plants to feed his pathetic ego.

Just like ****ing herpes, he won't go away no matter what you do.

How does someone with so many posts have so little rep? Too busy giving neg rep to everyone who calls him on his bullshit, I guess.

Hey, first thing you need to make sure that ph is down aro 5.8 for hydro, 6.8 for soil, and lower is better than higher. 7 ish is way high, that plus you are into flowering and have fed almost no P, because that MG is super strong and nitrogen heavy, no wonder you've got the funky coloured problems. You should have switched to a bloom nute when you went to 12/12, 6 weeks ago. They definitely don't need any more nitrogen! Most peeps reduce then eliminate N with about 4 weeks left to bud. It helps the bud maturity and improves final taste. Give them a flush with ph adjusted 5.8 plain water for hydro, 6.8 for soil and then start 1/2 strength bloom nute next watering. You can increase bloom strength toward the end of flowering as they kick into high gear. Look for a little "tip burn" on the ends of the leaves. This means optimum nutes. For 6 weeks flowering there should be much more bud growth, even with CFLS.

Avoid miracle blo like the plague. Would you put motor oil on your prime rib? Get the PBP gro and use that for your vegging. This is a fine product for your personal consumption and enjoyment, not a bag full of garbage, treat it as such. Organics are the way to go for good health, good aroma, good flavour.

Yes, your hydro plant is too wet and exhibiting overwater symptoms. The roots can almost dry out before they need a watering.
