Hello fellow Icers . I have a wood shed that I would like to get up and running. It is about 11' x 11' . There was a failed attempt at growing in this shed before so it has insulation and black plastic covering the walls. I am far from a handyman but will have my cuz help me with the build out.

1) First question is do I need to further insulate ?????
I am in Cali and it is hot here . I think I will need to just to keep heat under control but not sure what product to use to further insulate .Osb , drywall , tech sheild , Styrofoam sheets ?????

I plan on putting 1-4x4 tent (600hps) , 1-3x3 tent(400wLED) for now
when it cools down will put 2-1ooo's hps

I have a5000btu window banger to cool shed
just ordered a dehumidifier 70pint

I am on a budget

Door needs to be insulated as well .

Any help would be appreciated
Thnx

As u can see there is some Tech Sheild already covering the walls. I think this is normally used on roofs .

These are pics of the pitch of the roof
not sure if this wood was originally here for structural support for the shed or was just added after ward .
If I cant remove 2x4 it might be difficult to put materiel on ceiling

Yeah, I don't think the 5000 BTU is even close for 90+ degrees and 2 1000w lights. Or 600 + 400 for that matter.

BTW, get 1000w ballasts that are dim-able. You can run them at lower wattage when you don't need 1000.

Remove the black plastic. Replace with Prodex. Two layers with air space between. Use strips of Prodex, 1" wide to create air space, then put a layer of Prodex on top of the strips, more strips on top of that, then a layer of Prodex.

Prodex is [with air space] R-14.5, 1/4" thick, super light, vapor barrier, cuts with a knife, good decibel barrier. So easy to work with. Adds, like no weight to your door. Removes all heat signature to your room. Put the thinnest plywood or cheapest ass wood paneling over existing insulation, then put 2 layers of Prodex with air space creating strips of Prodex between. About 1" thick and R-25+. Use their Mylar tape and staples. Stagger seams. Good luck. -granger
