Need help with seedlings (dried up leafs and curling down)

These babies are about a week old. Under a 250HPS, allmix soil, Jorges Diamonds strain, Budbox tent, with 125RVK extraction and 3" fan inside the tent.

They were all growing strong until 2 days ago. One dropped leafs and started to have this weird leaf formation. Then another one started to look like that (not that severe though) and today a 3rd one follows.

I had them 12" from the HPS with the fan blowing on the lamp/reflector (to cool it). I have the idea that the hot air that bounced back on teh plants (from the reflector) really dried up the leafs of all seedlings. This morning they felt really dry. Like paper dry. So i moved the fan away and it blows towards a wet towel to raise the 33% humidity.

Temps run 24-27C lights on (RH 33%) and 21C lights off 55%RH.

Dont know if they re fan burned, lamp burned or the allmix is too hot for them.

Any feedback is appreciated!

peace

don't use bottled water... it sometimes brings on more problems than it solves... tap water left out for 24 hrs...

Hot Soil for seedlings?

Hot Soil for seedlings?

Bio Bizz All-Mix Soil

It might be a little bit more expensive than soils you might find in garden centres but the results more than make up for it.
Top notch soil
Bio-Bizz All-Mix is unlike anything you would find in a garden centre. It contains an effective blend of soil (20%), compost (35%), worm castings (10%) and Perlite (30%) as well as a special 'pre-mix' (5%) of biologically active organic ingredients that have been fermented for a month to create a potent mixture.

i've used bb allmix in the past... excellent even for seedlings... to me it's the bottled water which is sometimes spiked with sodium for human consumption

Different seeds different reactions. Only tap water here too. Watch the heat from the lamps & any over watering.

hmmm...3/3 replies and everyone mentions bottled water. I ll keep that in mind.

From now on, tap water, left for 24hrs.

I thought the problem came from the hot soil (biobizz allmix). Certain strains dont take it very good (at seedling stage i m talkin about). But i wasnt gonna get a 50L light mix bag just for 4 x germ pots...

My first thought for this problem was overwatering, since the affected seedling didnt drink up like the other 3 and the soil was soaked for 2-3 days. Then my second guess was "hot air burned seedling" and then my mind even went to the point that the Root Juice might be out of date, since i ve had it for over 4 years outside (heat/cold etc).

I m used to watering carefully (not too much not too little), but a week ago (and after watching a Cervantes video) i started doing the soak the pot till it runs from the bottom and then let it stand in the water for 10mins theory. To be honest, IDK if this technique is really suitable for seedlings....

i think it drowns them

the root juice might go bad after such a long time... i had a bottle of algamic start smelling funky in less than a year...

i think you're right on... that technique isn't good for any stage of plant growth, just bad advice... seedlings need just a bit of water... i like to water around the edges of the container so they have to go searching for the water...

The ill one continues to have minimum growth, but nevertheless its alive. Prolly it will take her a week to recover (if she recovers that is).

The other three are ok. Little stressed, but ok.

I think the problem became from 3 things. Bottled water, expired root juice and fan burn/hot air.

BUT: I m afraid that Jorges Diamonds (the strain) is a bit sensitive. Maybe a sign that it has blueberry in it.

Since know one know the exact pedigree of this strain, you cant have a basic idea of its tendencies, needs or sensitivities
