Need help with odor control....

Running a Homebox with a 175cfm inline canfan, and can2600 carbon filter. I pull through the filter into hood and out. The filter is definitely working but there is still some odor. I want to kill all the odor I can. I'm running a couple of Airwick freshners, they type that use a spray every 9 minutes, but it's just not enough......any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

ps Im using 4" flanges

Dial your fan down with a speed controller. The CAN2600 is designed for 94CFM or something low like that.. you are pulling air through it too fast for the carbon to kill all the smell.

Or get a bigger filter.

I think you may be right. It just cools my box down perfect, within a couple of degrees of ambient. There are a few twists and turns in the path which would lower the cfms.

Can I use a speed control on a canfan? I think I remember people saying it's a no-no.

What about pushing through another 2600 at the end? Would that kill my ventilation?

It's not a problem yet. But in a month.............

I guess you could get another 2600.. but why not just buy a bigger filter? Pretty sure you can use a speed control on a canfan. Google 'Speedster Fan Control'.

How many plants are you doing and what is the wattage of your lights/numbers? Also, how large is your grow room or cab?

I solved my problem. There was a hole in the ducting between the hood and fan, drawing in unfiltered air. Hole is sealed, smell is in check!

Thanks everyone.

Mount your inline into a position so that it is sucking the air through the hoods first, then through the filter and then to the outside.

No need to buy a speed controller as they DON'T WORK on capacitor or slow start motors.............instead add one or two 90 degree elbows between the exhaust fan and the filter. The bends/restriction will slow down the exhaust volume.

:chin: Don't see how this would work, Ty.. The CAN2600 isn't an inline filter. There is no way to put the filter after the hoods, and before the inline. (Aside from getting super creative and fabbing something up.. but that's not the matter at hand )

Did you mean to say to place the filter after the fan, hence blowing through the filter?

Or am I just having a bad night and not reading your post correctly? (Wouldn't be the first haha :badday:)

get a bucket find a fan that will fit snuggly in the top. put a couple cups of water in there and some ONA or other odor controll you can get at a growshop or a baby store for new moms. drill some holes above the water line you should notice a difference in a couple minutes bigger room use more odor control. Hope this helps :joint:

Thanks. Another cheap trick is to bubble a bucket of diluted pinesol with an airpump and hose. I'm good for now though. A small leak at the flange on my hood was definitely the source. Once I taped it up. no more odor!

Muchos Gracias!
