Hi all, merry christmas! Hope u all got your festive season stash put asside!

Attached are some pics of leaves taken from my current DWC Scrog. I have 2 Bubbleious & 2 hollands hoop in a DWC tub with res in a scrog grow setup. My girls are 10 days into flower & were veged for about 5 weeks. I've been seeing the same problems for most of the grow. At first i thought it was caused by a nute lockout due to the nute strength being too strong. I created an over-nute problem when i got my TDS pen & tried to adjust my organic nutes to match what i'd read about nute strenght, ie a TDS of 900 - 1100. I've since found out that 100% organic nutes don't register correctly. I've had the nute strength correct now for about 4 weeks(going by directions on the bottle). To me it looks like a mixture of problems. Its got me a bit confused, i thought it might have been a magniesium def so i added a couple of teaspoons of epsom salts to the res (pre-disolved naturally) Any help would be really apreceated.

hay organic hydro;
I always aim to keep my PH between 5.5 & 6.5. u think it might be a PH problem? what makes u think that?

I've already got that one, but thanks anyway. I know what u mean about needing lots of pics! U can read all u want about 'yellowing leaves' or 'Nectosis spots' but nothing says it better than a pic! Especally when you've had a few tokes, reading goes out the window!
The brown on the edges 'kind of' looks like phosphorus def but not the pale patches plus they're only 11 days into flowering & i've given them weak flower nutes when i switched them to 12/12. Also this prob has been around almost from the start & the organic veg nutes i use (bio-juice) have a good mix of nutes in them plus i had given them weak flower nutes earily in the veg to help premote root growth.

It looks like (K)

It looks like (K)

(K) is one of the most common defeciencies but few people take it as a (K) defeciency. They add a nutrient high in Mag or Iron and usually the plants bounce back for a period of time.If you read about (K) def. it usually starts with necrosis of the leaf tips and margins(edges) and slowly progress throughout the entire leaf. The way to know if it's potassium is that it usually starts about the middle of the plant with the fan leaves being affected first. Also, some ferts are incompatable with each other and will cause this defeciency no matter how much is availible in the nute mix.(locked out)
I'm thinking this is possible because other than the necrosis the leaves look good and dark green.
(K) defecient plant usually turn a pale green as it progresses.
Keep your PH in the upper end of your range for a cou[ple of days and see if it helps.
Take care..................CC

Try to get us a pick of the whole plant.

thanks for chiming in! As requestered, here are some pics of my scrog. They are now 12 days into flowering & the bubbleious is just begining to show some colour in the buds. They come up with the darkest purple i've ever seen, almost black when cured. As u can see they all look healthy. The problem leaves seem to be mostly under the scrog capopy.

Im kinda thinking that keeping a ph between that great a distance isnt exactly aiming. Narrowing it down will produce better results.

U think a 1 point variation is a wide swing? I have always figured that as long as it stays within that range then all will be well. I often get a 0.5 - 0.75 shift in PH within a 24hr period. Doesn't everybody?

From a math standpoint no, from a plant point of referrence yes. My plant ph doesnt swing more than a few tenths over a long time because its in soil. When yours swings over a point in a day then it would stand to reason that your plant doesnt have the opportunity to feed correctly when nutes like a particular sweet zone for availability to the plant.

I had a full 1 point swing in 24 hrs today, I looked back over the past 2 weeks of records & i'm seeing a gradual increase in the PH swing. :yoinks: So i've decieded to mix up a fresh batch of nutes for tommorow, see if that helps to lower the PH swing.
So my next question is, what causes PH swings in hydroponic systems?

I've attached some better pics taken yesterday, day 16 of flower. You can see the start of some colour in the bubbleious. From what i have read this dark purple isn't typical of the strain so i'm guessing that this a bit of a throw back. I've kept it as a mom anyways as i love purple, it had a reasonable yeild, great eyecandy & an exellent smoke.

Just wondering how often you swap out the water with fresh batches.

That sounds reasonable, pretty thick canopy. Should be getting stciky once the buds start to fatten up.

thanks Verite. I sprayed them with bonza bud a few days ago. It stops vertical stretch in flower & promotes lateral growth.

?? How does something do that? Whats in it? I think alot of vert stretch is due to distance and hps bulbs in flower. Lower the distance and toss in a metal halide and that should do the trick too.

Bonza bud suppresses the hormone that is related to vertical growth & enhances the hormone that causes laterial branching. I'm just going by what it says on the bottle but i've used it before & it does just what it says. i'm going to use it on some outdoor girls i have, i intend to NOT use it on just one girl & see what kind of plant shape & yield difference i get. I'll post pics of their progress in a new thread once i start to see a difference. I'll send u a PM to let u know when the pics are up if you're interested. I have my HPS as close as i can without too much light burn happening. I don't have the $ to just 'toss in' a MH.
