need help turning my power plant into a tree

My pure power plant just matured so I hacked it a couple days ago, although left a few branches on the base of the plant so we can turn it into a tree. I've heard that getting it to go from flowering back to vegging can be tricky so I'm asking for some expert advice. I threw it back into my vegging box two days ago, and am adding nitrogen and potassium rich ferts to assist it to veg, and to hopefully counteract chlorophyll drainage due to spider mites. Do you think I will be able to turn it into a healthy tree, or did the spider mites destroy all hope of turning it into a tree?

Also I know I should cut the roots so they grow new growth, so when should I do that?
