How many wires are ran to the dryer outlet? If it's 3, then it'd be alot easier to just run the ballast at 240v if it's multitapped. If it's 4, then you'll need to basically build a subpanel to break down the 240v into 2 120v lines. It can be done without a subpanel, but I'd hesitate to offer that advice to someone that's not very experienced with electrical work.

What sandmans saying is if there are 3 wires(2 insulated wires and a ground)you cannot use 120V only 240V.If there is a white insulated wire present a panel can be mounted and you can run 120V/240V or a combination if you want.

ok ill check with the dude that will help me out cause I aint got the knowledge needed to ununderstand y'all

the dude at the hydro store made it sound much simple cause

I did not want to invest in subpanel and evrything alla I need is one damn 120v outlet that 's it

Is this a gas or electric clothes dryer? If it's electric, it will be on a 30a/240v or a 50a/240v...not across 2 15a/120v's - unless the wiring was done by someone with no idea what they were doing.

If the guy is an electrician, he'll have plenty of gang boxes and stuff...since you sound like you haven't ever done electrical work, I'd suggest just letting him get the parts. There's no reason not to.

Its a 2 pole breaker, but like sandman says it should be a minimum of 30A.Is it a teency tiny dryer or something, like a microwave size lol?Just kidding first off,are you in the U.S?I totally agree with sandman in letting the wireman get all the materials, you just tell him what and where,if he asks why give um your meanest none of your fuckin business look lol, unless its you buddy or something.Seriously, when you tell him what you want and where in terms he can understand, the why becomes a non-issue.Its a big issue though and righfully so if you are not clear and concise,a good electrician will want to know the load if he's unclear on any issue, remember this aint plumbing lol!

ok thank y all decided to go witih the kiss method found my fridge circuit is on 15 amp ill move the fridge i got a mini fridge and get plug the balast there since i only use mostly my sound system on the other circuit the mini fridge wont pop the breaker so iam all set to start might get a 30amp subpanel to tap into my dryer after this grow outlet and make thing more conceald sorry for my ignorance about my panel is in a really dark spot and i saw 15 amp where the sun shine go in and assume becaused the breaker had the same blue knob that they were the same might make tread about the progress of the home made grow tent
