im going to use a dell dimension 2400 for my grow. It is only going to be single plant. My question is how do you remove the CD/DVD Drive Bracket. They have those dumb screws.

Note - I have not removed the aluminum casing. i dont even know if thats possible lol.

Most pc cases are put together with rivets that can be drilled out.

I don't mean to sound trite, but, you might want to look through the Micro Grow forum for more specific info. The good people there have a wealth of knowledge on pc grows. Good luck!

Stealth! PC fans for aeration and filtering, PL-L's/CFL's/small wattage HID for lighting. It looks and sounds like a computer. For a personal grow for those who don't smoke a lot, it's perfect!

Even then, it's hard to do and a lot of people do it to test their skills, and some are pretty good at it!

drill out those rivets. I used a new phillips screwdriver to "drill" them once..didn't have an actual drill, it's alot more work but much cheaper than a drill.

WHY would you want to grow inside of a pc case?

WHAT would be the purpose the benefit?

stealth, fun, free weed...lots of reasons to grow weed...in a pc case. u2seek42 you should check out the micro forums, there's plenty of nice pc/micros grows in there that could easily rival big grows on a yield per cubic foot scale.

read, read, read.

Re: need help on dismantle of pc case.

Probably a 1/8 inch bit is what you want. Ideally, the bit would almost fit in the tube part of the rivet. In the end, it doesn't really matter, if its to big it will rumble when you drill it a bit, but it will work. If its to small, you may have to weasle it a bit, maybe with pliers but it will come out.

If you have some kind of wire cutters you may be able to cut(and smash and mangle) the tube part enough thaty the rivet can be just ripped out.

A rivet is just a tube with a fat nailhead pulled in it to fatten the tube so it won't pull back through the hole. So you just gotta get rid of the core nailhead so the tube can fit back though the hole.

Careful some cases are sharp!

I'm having a go at this now and it's a PITA! I was using a hobby tool with a disc to cut with it but that was noisy and wont cut through before all the discs run out heh, then a drill but but that was far too noisy for today and not that effective, do gonna try a proper drill after some work with the pliars :)
