Need help for room design

Hi everyone...

I have grew just in a litte 2' x 2' x 3' before, but now i have a 8' x 16' x 8' room that i'm going to split in half and make 2 8' x 8' x 8' rooms, one for Veg and one for Flowering, for the Veg room, i'm planing to use CFL, so i think that one is not going to be a problem, but for the flowering room i have some doubts.

I have 4 400W MH lamps like this one:

I have close to 20 diferent types of sealings and i want to grow using organic Soil, because its very difficult to me get hydroton or something else for a hydroponic or aerophonic system here in my country, and shipping costs from EEUU to my country are very expensive, so, can anyone give me some ideas to use all the space i have (8x8x8) using this lamps (4x 400W MH) for a Flowering room and get all the buds i can?

Thanks everyone and sorry for my english :smoker:

if you went vertical you could use a 6x6 area, horizontal to cover a 8x8 you need 4,000 watts

why did you chose mh over hps?

3 feet is enough, i dont know how good those reflectors are but, first time grower, might wanna stay horizontal

draw a circle 18 inchs around the bulb, thats the area you can grow buds in with 1 bulb

i dont know a whole lot about his yet, cuz i am still studying all this man, but you definately dont have enough light for your growroom...maybe consider making the actual growspace smaller, and get a better hoods, ur gonna need to walk around ...so an 8x8 room full of plants would be a pain to play with......just my input.....hopefully it can help man!

Your 1000w HPS will work fine for an 8x8x8 flowering room (though 2x600w would probably be better). Use the HPS as soon as you can when you switch to 12/12 - I wouldn't wait until the 4th week of flowering: can't see much advantage of doing that.

If you can, get a good horizontal reflector for your lamps, especially for your flowering lamp. A 'diamond' or 'adust-a-shade' would be best if you can get hold of one.

I reckon you only need 3 of your 4 MH lamps for your veg room.

8ft is enough vertical space for most plants, especially if you are growing in soil. If you are growing pure/mostly sativas you will probably want to control the height by using relatively small pots. If you are growing indicas or an even sativa-indica mix then you shouldn't need to worry too much.

With this set up you should be able to knock out about 1kilo per harvest, maybe more if you are lucky/clever and have good gene stock to work with.

8x8 with only 1-1000 watt hps seems like its stretching it to me....everyone has there own opinions....2-600's with a light mover in an 8x8 would be more ideal for that space....

thanks everyone for your answers, so, is not recomended to flower using MH only? because i would like to use the lamps i already have for flower, but if i really need HPS i could get just the bulbs for the ballasts i already have, but all 4 i have are new so i would like to use them at least once for flowering...

thanks everyone and sorry for my english

you can use only mh, the buds will be more dense or compact, some people perfer mh to hps for their own personal stash too,

but for most people they choose hps because it yeilds better and use mh for vegetative stage because the plants like more blue at that stage
