NEED HELP...Convert Flood and Drain buckets to Coco

I have a DIY 5 gallon ebb and flow monster bucket system. I want to convert to coco now after using super soil.

My idea is....fill the buckets with hydroton until the water line during fill. The get a smart pot that fits into the top of that bucket (maybe with a wick). I would top feed the pots with minimal run off and flood and drain a few times per day for water, maybe extra nutrients. Essentially convert it to an octopot

Any thoughts?? Will this work?

Ive seen people just put smart pots with coco right on the table and flood and drain like that. Do you not want to do it that way?

set the controller to drain only
set up drippers

Yes you can do it that way, or you could just flood the table like normal too if you wanted too. The smart pots absorb water and it will wick its way up the coco. My friend runs his system this way. Both will work

I asked a few other growers and they all seem to think im asking for trouble. I dont have a table, I have buckets so I can scrog each one out.

my mistake, i over looked your post and thought you were using tables. I don't have any experience with buckets so I'm not sure. But if your top feeding coco with drippers and your buckets are draining, i dont see what the problem would be with that. Like i said though no experience with buckets
