Need help building a box.

Well someone told me to go find a forum like this for help so here I am. The only thing is this isn't for growing but to keep a bed room cool. I have a 5000BTU window AC in my upstairs window in my apartment and it cools the upstairs well, but now my landlord is making everyone that has one in their upstairs apartments take them out because they are fire hazards and to just get expensive ass portable AC units. Don't want to do that since I had one before and it was bad. So I want to just turn it into a portable one.

I saw this thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=95491 with the pics on how to do it. But now I need to know is do I need to get fans for the ducts, and do I need to build two boxes and have two ducts still since this will not be for a grow room?

Ok so I built the box for the back unit. Had some problems with AC leaking from side vents because nasty stuff was inside and foam got inside clogging up the drain. Took unit apart and cleaned it out and it's running smooth again. I'm actually thinking the fan I bought to pump out the hot heat was a waste of money since I can't see no difference in my temps with it on or off. The the flexible insulated duct that I have connected to my box is a little over 2 ft long. I do feel like my AC isn't getting as cold as it could be, and most likely will build that 2nd box before next Sat when temps are expected to reach high 80's again in my city.

Not good for plants or end product smoking what was leaked upon.

If anything, get a portable unit and tube it in. Had one for a living room, 8000BTU.

This is for just cooling a room not growing. Only thing that leaked on was my CPU chair.

need pics to really understand what is going on.

you probably know this... but most window units draw air from louvers on the sides of the unit, and expell the air out the back through the condensing coil.

just place a partition behind the louvers... and pump air from this area outside though some duct. you then need to run a return air duct from the outside back into the area behind the aforementioned partition to supply outside air to the louvers mentioned above.

5kbtuh window units are stupid small. you wont need more than a 4" duct and inline fan... probably around 200cfm to get it working acceptably. i recommend you put a thermometer inside the airbox though.
