Hey there need some advice, I have been a landscaper/ gardener for several years but my first time taking it inside!! Any advice would be great-
-I have grapefruit clones from a buddy
-all have been under same light
-same soil (ph good)
-same nutrient solution (good 10-10-10) (and trace minerals)
-all plants are HAPPY (green, healthy looking)
-BUT... some are like six to eight inches big, while others are only like fourish
-my buddy says start flowering but I am just not sure- shouldn't they all be a little taller?
Thanks and hope to hear from you soon! Peace.

Welcome to IC Mag!

Welcome to IC Mag!

High Captain welcome! When ya first put bud plants into flower they will stretch or grow real fast for the first few weeks in,some way more than others.Grapfruit is a stretcher so if ya put it in 12/12 at 6" they may finish around 3' er so.Each strain is diffrent tho,as a rule of thumb most will double in height. Also keep in mind sativas will stretch more than indacas will.If in doubt, ask! Good luck to ya! Take care...BC

400w HPS light and a nice little room with six feet of head room and a foot and a half on all sides to bush out. so what about some of the babies being half the size of the others? should I just start 12-12 and the others will just be a bit smaller, or will they get choked out by the bigger ones? THanks for the advice. peace.

Another question for all the gurus out there!

Another question for all the gurus out there!

Hey out there! So thanks for all the good advice last question! New one... What about LST'ing- what does it mean? and about tying them down? I understand making the main stem tough but what do you do? I have an oscillating fan on at all times, moving around the room to hit them from all sides through the week. I also put a bigger fan on them twice a week for a workout (higher powered fan). Is this ok? Will they be strong enough? Thanks and peace!

The purpose of LST is to take a plant and maximize it's light coverage. The plant obviously wants to grow straight up towards the 'sun' - this is great for the buds on the top but tends to leave the buds on the bottom in the shade.

By LST'ing - or tying the taller branches down you are once again leveling off the canopy and allowing those buds on lower branches to get more/the same amount of light as the top.

For more info ya might wanna check out SCROGs as this achieves the same thing and can seriously increase overall yield.
